Hey friends!!!! I am feeling down on the scale numbers........I have been on MFP for 3 months going on 4 and I am still at the same weight. I am happy in one way because I was a chronic bulimic and I love the fact that on here I am learning how not to binge I am learning how to enjoy my food, ok but now on the other hand not seeing the numbers go down is discouraging me

Sounds like you have some major stuff to overcome...been there, done that. Congratulations on enjoying food for a change! You should be proud of your self for what you've done so far. Are you exercising? I always stick to my daily goal # of calories, I don't eat the extra calories I earn from working out. This is working for me. Best of luck to you!!! :)

I would re-evaluate what you're eating. Just from glancing at your diary quickly there's a lot of dining out plus heavily processed and high calorie foods. It also doesn't appear like you're eating your exercise calories. Try eating back at least half of those and see where it gets you. Good luck and feel free to friend me if you need more support

I've been doing this life style change since Jan. and I have only lost 4 pounds....but I'm sitting here in a pair of capris I couldn't even zip up last summer. Something is going somewhere. I didn't take my measurements before I started this, but I did today. Keep trying. Scales don't always take in the whole picture.
  • So true when i started this in late jan I had a pair of capris that are size 18 they would not even go up at all today they fit. I dont know why its just the numbers on the scales that get me.

I would also take your measurements if you haven't done so. Those can be a better indicator than the scale of how you're doing!
  • Yea true I do dine out alot. My husband works nights so His thing our thing has been going out to eat a couple times a week ( or even more than a couple) So I will have to moderate what I eat when I do go out. I was gonna ask if I need to eat the calories back from exercising too I have heard so many stories on that I didnt know what to do
  • I was 51 inches at the waist when I started and today I am 47

Please be patient with the process. Are you getting professional help? I know that when my sister was bulimic, she kicked it herself. But it is SUCH a challenge. You are to be congratulated for the GREAT progress you've made in trying to normalize your relationship with eating and keeping food! I know you want the weight to fall off, but seems to me that the psychological weight has to fall first. Baby steps...... you're doing this!!! Love yourself enough to take good care of mind, body and spirit!

Don't get discouraged. I plateaued on the scale for a while, but my clothes are sure getting loose. I have had a dramatic weight loss, but have a long way to go. Feel free to add me if you wish.
  • You are soooo right. I need to be paitent with myself. thank you for your beautiful words

well, first congratulations on sticking with it for that long! thats wonderful that you have been dedicated to it! & even more so that you are learning HOW to eat, etc. kudos to you, girl!!!!!

I must agree that from your diary you seem to be eating alot of processed foods... which believe me I know its hard not to!! especially if there's nothing else in the house O_o
but I've been at this for awhile & it gets easier ;) try eating more fruit. I love bananas, clementines, apples, oranges, blueberries, grapes. & some are super easy to just grab & go if you need to. I have also recently become addicted to Greek yogurt. its more potent than regular yogurt, but once you get used to it, its awesome. Its more calories than Yoplait Light but it has more protein & its better for you!! :):):) & I LOVE SALAD!!!!! I eat it all the time. Plus, you can totally make it whatever you want. there's so many different ways to eat salad. I really love eating Wendy's Apple Pecan Chicken salad (580 calories!) & McDonalds Southwestern Grilled Chicken Salad (480 calories!!) If you're eating out alot.. try looking up the menu online before you go out & find something good!!
sometimes the scale not moving isn't a bad thing, yes it sucks because we want to see all our hard work actually WORK! but I bet your measurements are smaller!!!

also, for the longest time I wasn't sure whether to eat back my exercise calories either. So I never did. I have started to recently because I read this really awesome explanation as to why we should. but I am also only eating 1200 calories a day so its more important for ME to eat back my exercise calories since I'm eating so little a day. does that make sense? if you want to check my forum posts/replies list on my page you could probably find the forum I'm talking about. its titled: Why Eating Exercise Calories is so important.

feel free to add me! :):)

Do you track your sodium? I tried that and it helps. I see alot of sodium in your diet. Your water intake is wonderful. I wish I could do that much. I track my weight about twice a month so I wont get dependent on the scale. Inches lost are just as good or even better in my opinion.
