I'd like to start a support group to help any of us dealing with illness in our families. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll start a group. I couldn't find one on here.
My husband has a serious lung disease and my mother has alzheimers.

Count me in, my husband is ill as well. And it can be very difficult to take care of yourself when someone else is so ill.

Do you know how to start a group for this? I guess I'm having a mental block from all the mowing I did today because I cant figure it out. LOL0 -
Go to the group page, there's a link to create one on the right, next to the box with existing groups.0

Oh dear, I didn't expect this post to grab me like it did.
My hubby, the one in the profile pic with me, also has a serious lung disease. He has bullas emphysema. He has had seven lung collapses. Six in his right lung, which was taken out in 2005. So he only has one lung, and it has blisters (bullas) all over it. They (the blisters) will grow and eventually pop, which will collapse the lung. When it collapses, he will suffocate to death. It's not something I thought I would ever talk to with someone over the internet, but when you said your hubby also had a lung disease, I knew I had to respond.
He only has a couple of years to live.0 -
I have Vasculitis an autoimmune disease and I am on on the horrible drug Cortisone. Along with some other nasty drugs. I am a 42 mom with 2 boys. I have to take high dosages of cortisone to stay alive. But with the side effects of this drug I have gained lots of weight. I am way over my recommended weight. Now I have to try to lose it with the slow reduction of the drug. It is a struggle, but I am going to try. I need to lose in the start 30 pounds. At least that is my goal for now. But I would like to be in a group with others that know and understand the stresses etc that goes with chronic conditions.0

My Dad has RSD/CRPS. It is a horrible disease that is made even worse by the fact that most people- including my doctors - don't know much about it. He is in chronic pain everyday and my mother has basically had to give up her entire life to care for him.0

My husband is in CHF....My life seriously change two years ago when he fell ill. He'll never work again, he's gaining weight like crazy and it's not good for him. Hoping one day he'll see what I'm doing and do it with me. It will be a side benifit to my weight loss. There are 4 stages to CHF and he's in stage 3 and I feel stage 4 is creeping up on him and he's ignoring it.0

add me please! My mom has multiple myeloma (cance of the plasma cells in bone marrow). She's had it for over 5 years now and has been in all sorts of studies and programs as this cancer isnt really common. I dont think they expected her to live this long, but she's still doing it! Although has to do bloodwork and chemo once a week right now.0

add me too please (or anyone else). I have a father who has advanced prostate cancer and Parkinson's....so I know what people are going though. I think this a great idea!0

I would say yes, but my Nanna has just died last night from Alzheimers and congestive heart failure, she was 89 but a cruel way to go...
I lost my other Nanny last year also to Alzheimers...
Why does that disease even have a capital letter...0 -
My son is very ill. He has eosinophilic esophagitis, severe multiple food allergies and I am praying he does not have mitochondrial disease. He is has not gained weight in 1 year. Every day he is in pain. 12 years old and 63 pounds.0
