fitbit question

I don't log my exercise. I just let my fitbit handle that. However, I've noticed that once I finish an exercise it will say I've earned say 400 calories. If I sit for a while after I exercise that number will drop. Anyone else experience this. I find it odd as once you've burned the calories how do they re-appear?

I think it assumes you're going to remain active so it gives you calories for it, but once you stop moving for a while it starts taking them away. If you keep moving you'll keep earning but the longer you're just sitting or whatever the more it takes away.0

I thought the idea was to burn the calories not to regain more calories to eat, if you continue to eat the extra calories won't you just stay at the same weight?0
