Hey everyone,

I have been seeing all kinds of ads and discussions on this Colon Cleanse 3000 and Acai Berry. All of these websites advertise free samples. I am nervous though that these could possibly be scams. Has anyone seen a reputable source say that these were good products, or has anyone personally ordered them online or gotten them in stores and used the product? Any success?

I guess I just need some reassurance that this is a good idea from people who are real :)

Thanks!! :flowerforyou:

Yes, they are scams. Some of the "cleanses" can be dangerous as well. All have about a 0% long-term success rate.

if you surf all the other topics you will see many many times on here other MFPers who have been lulled into a scam...if you really feel the need to try acai berry for it's health benefits [it is NOIT a miracle weight loss drug] then go to your local health store and buy the juice or supplement

My friend tried the Acacai berry or whatever and it just made her sick the whole time she was taking it. It tore her stomach up, and she felt awful. Went off it after maybe 3 days.

Personally, I like and use Dr. Natura's Colonix and Toxinout. http://www.drnatura.com

And as far as acai, I use Sambazon. It's the best I've found, and has many nutritional benefits. Here's the website: http://www.sambazon.com/

I don't use any of these items to "lose weight," but as a supplement to my diet. If you don't think you need it, then don't use it! However, there are reasons to use these types of products that one might not want to share. The best health and weight loss tip I can give is to eat "clean" and balanced, and cut out all added sugar, especially High Fructose Corn Syrup!

All the best on your journey!

It's a load of garbage! Permanant weight loss ONLY happens with a lifestyle change. These people try to convince the public that there is stuff that gets "stuck" in your colon which is not true. Don't believe it! Exercise and eating "whole" foods are all that you need to do.

I'm worried I'd flush out all the good bacteria and get sick.

My doctor recomended a cleanse due to the fact I was having gastinal issues even though my fiber intake was good. I found some online and I ordered the acaiberry and got a free 2 month supply of complete cleanse, I also use Resveratrol I use them in combination to diet and exercise. I have lost 30 pounds in 6 weeks time and do feel much better, my system has been more regular as well. The resveratrol is amazing it has made wrinkles around my eyes almost disappear and I also has scars around both eyes from surgery which have virtually disappeared since I began taking it. So Not all are scams you just have to be careful which ones you order.. I only paid 99 cents for the two month supply of acaiberry and the total cleanse. The Resveratrol was only 3.95. My doctor has looked over what I have been taking and said it wouldn't hurt to use them as a supplement to help with my energy and digestion.

You are totally correct when you say that permanent weight loss is all about a lifestyle change! And that's the best way to lose excess bodyfat. However, it's called diverticulitis when waste products get "stuck" in one's digestive tract/colon.

There's lotsa info on the web about it, from reputable sources:

    http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/diverticulosis/#cause

    Here's an excerpt:

Although not proven, the dominant theory is that a low-fiber diet causes diverticular disease. The disease was first noticed in the United States in the early 1900s, around the time processed foods were introduced into the American diet. Consumption of processed foods greatly reduced Americans’ fiber intake.

Diverticular disease is common in developed or industrialized countries—particularly the United States, England, and Australia—where low-fiber diets are consumed. The disease is rare in Asia and Africa, where most people eat high-fiber diets.

Fiber is the part of fruits, vegetables, and grains that the body cannot digest. Some fiber, called soluble fiber, dissolves easily in water. It takes on a soft, jelly-like texture in the intestines. Insoluble fiber passes almost unchanged through the intestines. Both kinds of fiber help prevent constipation by making stools soft and easy to pass.

Constipation—or hard stool—may cause people to strain when passing stool during a bowel movement. Straining may cause increased pressure in the colon, which may cause the colon lining to bulge out through weak spots in the colon wall. These bulges are diverticula.

Lack of exercise also may be associated with a greater risk of forming diverticula, although the reasons for this are not well understood.

Doctors are not certain what causes diverticula to become inflamed. The inflammation may begin when bacteria or stool are caught in the diverticula. An attack of diverticulitis can develop suddenly and without warning.

When you do some research about complaints with the products you will see there are amny bad scams. They say its free but then hit you up with an $80+ "membership fee".

The more I read the more I see it as just something else to eat. Just eat healthy foods, watch your portion size to help you monitor your calorie intake and you'll do great!

What an excellent motivator to eat your fruits and veggies! :noway:

Actually, you're body is fully capable of flushing out all the toxins and waste that needs to be flushed, all on it's own, without any help from any kind of cleanse...IF...you have no medical issues. True, some folks do have medical reasons for needing...assistance....but I would suggest that only when recommended by a doctor should you spend your money on these things.

Acai is just another antioxident...a pretty good one, from what I've read, but there is no medical proof that it aids in weightloss.

No I'm not a Dr., I just read a lot in hopes of finding the "magic pill". So far, the only magic I've found is in eating healthy and burning more cals than I eat....sigh....:laugh:
