Will This Work?

If my TDEE is 2396 and my BMR is 2184. Could I just eat 2184 calories and burn 300 calories a day to lose one pound a week? Or should I be eating more calories? If I eat more calories, can I burn them? They say this is simple but it's not sticking with me just yet. I'm almost there.

    One pound = 3500 calories
    3500/7 = 500
    So you need a total deficit of 500/day to lose one pound each week.

    It doesn't matter if you eat 2184 and burn 500 OR eat 2384 and burn 700 or only eat 1884 to start with. Your deficit for the week needs to be 3500.

    I bet your TDEE is higher than that and it will be higher when you exercise. My TDEE is higher than that and my BMR is only 1400. Is that your sedentary TDEE?

    Here's what I would do.

    Figure out how many times per week you plan to exercise. Calculate your TDEE again based on that. Subtract approximately 500 per day based on that TDEE (active or moderately active) and go from there. Not usually good to eat below your BMR.
