30 DS - weights?

Hi all
I'm really tempted to get the 30 day shred DVD after seeing so many before and after pictures on here. My question is, what weights do I need to get? I don't own any. At the gym I normally do squats with an 8kg kettlebell, but apart from that most of my exercises aren't with loose weights so I don't really know!
Thanks a lot

i started with 0.5kg. LOL! after a few days I shifted up to 1kg, then up to 2.5kg. (I think that is 1lb - 2lb - 5lb, roughly). i still sometimes swap out the 2.5s for 1s.
i'm curious to see what others use...0 -
I started out with 4,4 lbs dumbells but should´ve used way heavier. Now im doing Ripped with 6,6 but change up for some moves. What you can do is start with the easier ones for the first set and then the heavier for the second or vice versa, thats the way ive worked my self up to doing No more trouble zones with my 6,6 lbs dumbells.0

i started with my 3 pound weights. and im still using them. but i am building up my strength. the next time i do this i hope to use at least my 5 pound weights. im just on level 2. today is day 2 but i have lost a few inches overall and will repeat it after i finish it. a month or so later..0

I started with 1kg aerobics dumbbells (2,2lbs) but graduated up to 2kg (4.4lbs) and 3kg (6.6lbs) reasonably fast.0

I have some that are 3.3lbs and some that are 10lbs, so a bit of 'one extreme to the other'! I use the 3.3lbs for most of 30DS but sometimes change to 10lbs if I can manage it. They are really heavy though!! :blushing:0

I've done it once with 2.5 kilo Dumbbells (about 5.5 pounds) but I just don't like 30DS at all. It frustrates me that it is moving so fast that I have to really drop the weight down - think chest presses going from 7 kilos easy/9kilos if I want it really heavy (15 pounds/19 pounds) to 2.5 kilos just to keep up. I know I could pause the DVD but that is frustrating and I want to concentrate on my strength more.
So if it was me I would start with lighter than you think and build up.0 -
I started with 1.5kgs (since it has a lot of jumping and composite moves which makes the lifting a bit tougher)
by level 3 and now in Rippes in 30 I am using 2.5 kgs and 3Kgs
I do not use the 1.5 kgs anymore feels way too easy with those ;-))0 -
Thanks for all your replies. Maybe I should get the dvd and watch it to see what the exercises are and then make my purchases based on that??0

It depends for some moves I use 2lb and for others I use 5lb.0

I did 30 DS with 2 lb in October. I just recently started another round w/ 5 lb0

I`ve done 30ds twice now and the first time threw I used 2pound hand weights and the second time threw 5pound weights. I do plan to do the shred again and I think I will be sticking with the 5pounds as it was a challenge with those the last go round and I don`t want to compremize my form.0

I use 5lb. I am on level 2 and the only one I cannot do properly is the one where she goes up in a v. I can go a 1/4 way up and my arms hurt.0
