Last night around 1AM I realized I had a very active imagination lol..... I was sleeping enjoying my slumber when my cell started to ring... now mind you I never hear it when I sleep, but of course this time I did and Wish i didn't.... So thinking who the hell is calling me at this hour I grab my phone and it wasn't a number I knew so I ignored it, they called again I ignored that, but for some ODD reason my heart was pounding and then the imagination kicked in.... I was scared to answer my phone because I thought A killer was on the other side... yea a killer lol... So I ignore the phone but now im laying in bed thinking omg someone can just knock on my window and be like imma kill you.... well I laid in bed as my phone kept going off at least 7-10x and my heart is seriously racing by this point, I listened to every noise in my house and when my dog moved I jumped... I was like this for at least 20 mins lol. Finally I fell asleep but I gotta say the last 2 weeks of watching horror movies has definitely screwed me lol....

This happened to me at 5am Saturday night/Sundaymorning....unknown number......turns out the caller actually knew my name and was saying the dirtiest, most offensive things to me on the phone.

They called twice and after they said my name - and some really overly sexual stuff, I freaked out and my OH took the phone and told the guy to **** off and they guy hung up!

The police wanted to come over to get a statement, so last night I did that and now I am hoping this wierdo s£x pest won't call me again!

I would have answered the phone because usually the only time it would ring that late is when something bad happens.

With that said I have woken up at 2 a.m. when the husband was away and thought "Someone is breaking into the house. What do you do now?" And I did a step-by-step action plan for what I would do. Now when he goes away I have certain things I keep with me just in case. Although the 75lb German Shepherd with the ferocious bark should sway anyone stupid enough to think they can get into my house.

So you should call them back at a time they'll likely be sleeping.

Had this happen a few times. The most memorable were the random drunk people. Never met them before, but they knew my roommate, called about a dozen times starting at 3 am, did heavy breathing and...what I think was supposed to be animal noises. Stopped answering so they started knocking on the door. They got scared off by my crackhead neighbours and apologized the next day :)

Although I shouldn't laugh, I find this really funny. Only because my other half has just returned home after 4 days in another country. I always feel safer/ more secure when he's around.

When I'm home alone at night (which is very rare) I always sleep with my stainless steel rolling pin down the side of my bed! Lol! One hit over the head and they'd be out for the count!

I have a parrot as back up too...can't move around the house without him piping up. But I know what you mean about imaginary noises. I once heard a noise and stood out on the landing to here "hello"! I've never frozen to the spot with fear in all my life - turned out it was the parrot voice throwing in one he'd not done before. I hope anyway! Lol!
Oh, he makes the sound of doors creaking too...which is annoying and unnerving at times.

(That won't be funny anymore if either of us changes profile pictures.)

The only person who ever calls me that late at night is my dad drunk calling me. lol I turn my phone to silent now and just leave my alarm on ring. If my kids are at home and so is hubby then no reason for me to leave it on. And if someone does get hurt or there is an emergency the police will knock on my door I'm sure.

Being a mom - all I think of is that it could be someone I know hurt or needing help.

When I was 16 I got hit by a car and I had to call my mom in the middle of a night from a number she didn't know thank goodness she answered....So that always pops into mind. I answer if it's a wrong number I am nice - if it's a creep weirdo ... well that has never happened to me I guess I would just hang up. But ya, you have a weird story there....lol......

At that hour, after the 3rd ring, I'd have answered... Hopefully it wasn't anyone with an emergency... Glad no one tapped on your window though!!! ;-D

My boyfriend's phone started ringing one night at like 2 in the morning, so he looked at the caller ID...and it was my picture. I was right next to him. I had the most eerie feeling of seeing that, first thinking "is my phone malfunctioning and calling people..?" and he just ignored the call and went back to sleep. They call again 1 minute later, and I'm freaking out thinking to myself "IS IT FUTURE ME CALLING TO WARN ME OF SOMETHING?!" I was most concerned with the fact that he WASN'T concerned with the call. I caught the number this time... it was my old number! What must have happened is he never took out my old number from his contacts list and accidentally called that number earlier in the week when trying to call my current phone, so the dbags instead of letting it go (why do idiots call back unknown missed calls? No message, don't call back!) decided to keep spam calling him one night. He turned off the phone after the 2nd call and said they haven't called again since then (over a month ago).

Once I was staying in a little motel and the phone rang in the middle of the night. I answered it because, hey, why not? And it was a guy looking for a phone sex person. I explained that it was a motel and she had no doubt moved on. And he was like, "Well are you interested in doing it? You have a really nice voice."
