I sometimes think that Dr. Oz just promotes certain products too, but I honestly believe he is a good hearted person who wants to give advice to millions of women who are searching for a solution and want to learn more about their bodies.

I agree. That is why I don't think he would promote DANGEROUS products (like sinephedrine or ephedrine), but he gets paid to endorse stuff, and I think he is highly likely to endorse non-dangerous products (or ones that are unlikely to result in lawsuits or diminution of his reputation), but ones with limited effectiveness nonetheless. There's a difference between the two-- dangerous products-- no, he won't endorse them, but products that cost you money and raise his advertising revenues, but won't help you lose weight-- yeah, probably, he'd endorse those.

I must admit, Dr. Oz is getting real annoying with all his magical weight loss secrets! Pul-leeze!
I agree! I only see the commercials for his show and every single day the show is about some weight loss secret..does he have an endless stash of secrets? how lucky for us, since he also has new products to "help" us with those...every.single.day....

To the OP, I truly believe that to lose weight safely, we need to watch what we eat and work out. There isn't a magical pill and there will never be one either, because obesity is not only a physical condition.

    Here's a good article:
    http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/04/15/diet.drugs.fail/index.html
And I think this makes sense:
"The causes of weight gain can be emotional, biological, social, psychological, environmental -- and these multiple factors don't fit into a neat capsule."

Anyway, best of luck on your journey!

Ever watch the Biggest Loser and see how much time they spend hocking Subway and Jennie O turkey?

TV is about getting and promoting sponsors. Most of the products featured end up on the show because of publicists and not because Dr. Oz has personally researched them.

They may not be dangerous, but I doubt they are super magic fat burners. If they were, would we get a new pill every week?

Some examples of poor advice that Dr. Oz has provided in the past...

    http://www.randi.org/site/jref-news/1260-pigasus-2011

The Media Pigasus Award goes to Dr. Mehmet Oz, who has done such a disservice to his TV viewers by promoting quack medical practices that he is now the first person to win a Pigasus two years in a row. Dr. Oz is a Harvard-educated cardiac physician who, through his syndicated TV show, has promoted faith healing, "energy medicine," and other quack theories that have no scientific basis. Oz has appeared on ABC News to give legitimacy to the claims of Brazilian faith healer “John of God,” who uses old carnival tricks to take money from the seriously ill. He's hosted Ayurvedic guru Yogi Cameron on his show to promote nonsense "tongue examination" as a way of diagnosing health problems. This year, he really went off the deep end. In March 2011, Dr. Oz endorsed "psychic" huckster and past Pigasus winner John Edward, who pretends to talk to dead people. Oz even suggested that bereaved families should visit psychic mediums to receive (faked) messages from their dead relatives as a form of grief counseling.

It's best to take any advice he has given with a grain of salt. Do your due diligence and investigate other sources for validation of anything that he has said.

Dr Oz is nothing but a supplement slut. He'll promote anything for a buck. One day its one thing, the next something totally different. Have no respect for him anymore.

Mostly Dr. Oz just selling what his advertisers want him to sell.

    ^^ This

Don't waste money on costly supplements that tout 'magical' fat burning properties...I know a sure fire proven way to burn fat. It's called exercise and it's free.

    Bingo, baby.

I've been taking Atro-Phex which has the 7-Keto in it. I use it when I'm plateauing to help me start losing again.

I take Ketoberry with brkfst and lunch. Which has raspberry ketones, african mango, green tea, caffiene (very sm amt), cider vinegar, acai, resveraltrol. Also I take CLA with each meal.

Definate improvement in weight loss and belly fat loss. All ingrediants Dr. Oz approved on one show or another. I have noticed a boost in energy in the morning and reduction in stress. I do exercise 6 days a week and they give me the boost I need, help with appetite, improve my stress, and I have noticed a reduction in fat esp. on my belly, something I've never noticed before even with exercise. I wouldn't go running out and purchasing every pill Dr. Oz advertises, I'd be broke! LOL That's why I take the Ketoberry it's about $11-15/month and CLA I have noticed improvement $15/6wks supply. If I felt they weren't working after one bottle I'd cut my losses and move on but so far so good.

Good Luck picking a suppliment that works for you!

That is very helpful to know. I have been looking to reduce stress and have considered St. John's Wort, but I don't like that you shouldn't take it when you have a lot of sun exposure.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I'll try Raspberry Ketones to see if it boosts metabolism and helps stress.
