I dont think that I can do this. I cant stay anywhere near my calorie goal. I m always way over. I m accutaly gaining weight. I m hungry! I exercise (most of the time) but I just cant eat anything!. I recently had my second child and I think it changed my body. I really think that my metabolism is very vcery slow. I know that I dont need to eat even half of what I do eat. I ran/jogged/walked 2 miles this morning and I am hopeing to do that everyday. Im SOOOOO frustrated with myself. I went to a clothing store yesterday for my daughter and I saw a coat there that I liked for myself and I tried it on in the middle of the store. (Its hard to try on clothes with a baby!!) I was so embarassed and self concious when I took of my hoodie and was in the store in just my shirts and jeans. I was accutaly starting tio sweat and get really really nervous. Needless to say I didnt buy anything for myself. I dont deserve it! Plus I dont want to spend money on things when its not going to matter. Ill just keep wearing my husbands shirts.

Im having a bad day. Im having a really hard time with this. I had my daughter last December and got back down to my normal (but not happy with) weight of 140. (Im very short) Now I weigh 160. ??? Hate myself lately. Anyone else out there like me? Im pouring my heart out.

    You can do it Sugarlove!!!! You can, you can, you can!

    What is your calorie goal? What types of foods are you eating? Are you getting enough protein?

    You can boost your metabolism if you time your food intake and exercise right. Try eating smaller portions more often throughout the day. I eat about every 2-3 hours. Now I don't feel hungry very often and when I do eat it takes much less to fill up. It did take about two weeks for my body to adjust to that feeling and in the meantime I just kept myself so busy I couldn't think about food.

    Make sure you drink lots and lots and lots of water. I can't believe how often I have to go potty, but I think that really helps in weight loss.

    Hang in there, keep your chin up. We are here for you. Big Hug - Julie

    Hi Sugarlove! I know it's hard... damn sometimes its just so hard... but it can get easier, you just have to stick with it!
    What really helped me, almost changed my life really was the South Beach Diet. I would highly recommend you looking into it. There is alot of information on the internet about it too.
    I'll break it down for you a bit. There are three phases and the first phase is the strictest. It lasts two weeks BUT the catch is you can eat as much as you want until you feel full AND desert. Most people lose 10-14lbs these two weeks alone and it TOTALLY changes your blood chemistry so I eventually stopped craving anything all together which made me feel so happy and incontrol, like my goals were actually possible. Out of the first two weeks, I found the first 3-4 days were actually the hardest.
    I've been following more or less closely this diet for almost two years.
    Look it into and if it interests you give it a try. It just might be what you're looking for.
    GOOD LUCK!! YOU REALLY CAN DO IT!!

    Please don't give up sugarlove.. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!

    I was in that same situation a few years ago until I lost some weight but then had my second baby and was feeling that way again...

    So... I decided to do something about it.

    I know you can do it sweetie.
    It was hard for my at first too but once I started finding foods/snacks that actually filled me up, my mind was put at ease and so did my stomach.

    Please don't give up.

    We are all here for you and we are all cheering you on and helping you along the way until you cross that finish line.

    Continue your morning walks, don't eat b/c you're bored... when you get that thought in your head, get up and do something or eat something healthy like fruits. They are very filling (grapes are so so so soooo low in calories).

    Don't give up on yourself b/c we're not ready to give up on you.

    It took me a long time after #2 because you are more tired with 2 kids and when you are tired you tend to eat because your body is in need of energy. It is very hard. I had 2 bad days in a row and everyone has been soooo supportive. You need to focus and think of it more as a healthy way of life rather than a diet. healthier me is right - don't eat because you are bored. When you do, though, remember that YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE. Um, I did that last night. But, today, I am being healthier again and YOU CAN TOO. Honest!!!!!

    Yes, hang in there! Maybe consult your doctor or a nutritionist. I have had to experiment with different foods to find stuff that let me keep my goals and still kept me reasobnably full. For certain, don't waste the calories you are granted on liquids.

    Oh and with respect to dragonfly183, I wasn't meaning coffee. It's the one thing I do drink besides water and lots of it! :)

    You can do it. Yes you can, yes you can. Eat more!!! Just the boring stuff like veggies. lol I know that sucks if you are not a veggie or salad fan.
    And you do deserve buying something for yourself because you are a unique, wonderful individual.

    Sugarlove first thing….YES YOU ARE WORTH IT!! You are just having a bad day. We ALL have bad days….even bad weeks from time to time. Like redalee said “you do deserve buying something for yourself because you are a unique, wonderful individual.” Listen to redalee she is so right.
    What I would like to ask you is are you getting enough water. I have learned a lot of times when we think we are hungry we are really just thirsty. I have also learned if we don’t drink enough water we will feel depressed.
    Also are you trying to eat too few calories and/or waiting too long between meals?
    You need to make sure that you are well hydrated, eating enough and not waiting too long to eat. And when you eat fruit have a tablespoon of peanut butter or ¾ to an ounce of cheese along with it…..that little bit of protein along with your fruit will help you feel more satisfied longer.
    Sugarlove...go shopping and buy something that makes you feel really good when you wear it. Also look around and pick out something that you really like one size smaller and buy it. Hang it where you can see it….then work to fit in that outfit. Or even find something in a catalog that you like and cut the picture out and hang it where you can see it….like on the frig. I know a lady that does that.
    I have also seen a lady bring in a pair of shorts to every weigh in. The shorts were too small for her but she carried them around with her and she was working to fit into them. The last time I visited with her chapter, back in June, she was soooo close to fitting into the shorts. I am sure she has made it by now.
    Just remember that you ARE worth it and you DO deserve having something nice and pretty to wear.
    Hang in there YOU CAN DO IT!!

    Hey Sugarlove,
    We talk about this problem just about every day with someone here. I had one yesterday with biscuits from Popeyes....oooooh they are soooooo good.
    I weigh over 1 1/2 times what you do and I keep plugging along. Withdrawal is a bummer.
    Most important! Brush it off and start again. You only have a few pounds to go compared to many of us. There is something to be happy with. I will trade your 160 for my 259. Wanna?
    I'd give anything to be young again, too.
    You are ssoooooooooo lucky to be young and so close to ideal weight.
    Take a deep breath and kick yourself in the butt for your pity party (we all have them) and keep trying.
    Oh and come here often.
    Are your caloric needs realistic? Is your exercise routine realistic? You can do too much and mess your mind up and cause a slip up.
    Come see us often. We share your problems and we support each other.

  • Im in the same position you are im 21 and had my first baby last february and still gaining wait im up to 158 (lost 3 pounds in 8 weeks) as well and short too, its hard because I dont have the will to go out and jogg or run or exercise ide rather stay home and watch tv because deep down its easyer and like nancym says the best way to do it is brush it off and keep going because tomorrow you know you can do better. theres always tomorrow and from one mother to the next you can only do so much in 24 hours. its hard but keep going push thru it you"ll love yourself for it in the end.

    #1 thing to always remember is that you can have a bad day a bad week and still begin again. It is not a quick fix we are reaching towards but a change in our lives for the better. My kids are older now, my youngest being 5, but I did go through very much the same thing you are describing. Give your body some time.

    You can lose weight without the exercise but it is certainly best with some. I had to give up my walks for awhile and am just getting back to it, but I have continued to lose weight. Slower but none the less it is certainly possible.

    Don't give up because you can do this. One day at a time.

    sugarlove,

    Oh YES YOU CAN!!!!! Just look at it as your cheat day :-) Last week I gained 5 lbs. I lost them all again. I couldn't exercise last week due to and injury. So I worked out 5 days this week instead of 4 - BAM! Back in the saddle.

    Go back to one of your previous post at::

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/993-normal-to-be-so-hungry

    Are you eating the calories you are "given" when you exercise? For instance, you said you worked out twice one day, and "I still went over my 1200 calories." What ??? If you walk for 30 minutes at 3 mph, you will have "earned" however many calories your walk burned. ABOVE YOUR 1200 Calories. You also said you are a waitress - you can't make it on 1200 calories! I was a waitress for 15 years, and I KNOW you are burning tons of calories at work.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You need to go back to your My Home page>Settings>Update diet / fitness profile.
    Read and change any of the statistics you entered. ONLY a sedentary lifesyyle would result in a recommendation of 1200 calories a day. You need to check the correct radio button under:
    How would you describe your normal daily activities?
    [ ] Active: Spend a good part of the day doing some physical activity (e.g. waitress, mailman).
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You will be recommended to eat WAY more than 1200 calories!

    **You need to eat (whatever the amount of ) calories given to you!
    **You will not lose weight if you aren't feeding your body. FOOD is FUEL !
    **Your body must have it. It thinks you are starving: in fact, you are. Your body will hold on to everything you give it. It's a survival response.

    Hope you start feeling better! You need to eat.

    ~Cheryl
  • WOW!! I cant believe the suppport that I have gotten from all of you! It is really helpfull to read this. I am happy that there are people out there that can relate.
    I picked a sedentiary (1200 cal) program because honestly I am in that cattegory. I only waitress about 1 or 2 times a week. (last night was a KILLER Over 8 hours of running around for peoples food!!)
    I DO need to drink more water. I know that I am not getting enough. Also, I eat junk junk junk. Some times I just cant stop myself. I think "I dont care" and I pig out. My name is sugarlove because I am simply an addict. I crave sugar upon wakeing up. When I get up with my daughter in the middle of the night for a bottle or something, I will eat. If there is anything with sugar within sight I will stuff it in my mouth like Ill never have it again! I try to keep stuff out of sight but its not easy with a husband and two boys age 10 and 8 around. They love snacks as much as me. The problem is that I am the only one who cannot eat them! Its not fair!!.
    Thank you all for the support and encouragement.

    You should get low sugar or sugarless snacks for yourself.

    I have sugar cravings around & at that time of the month which is NOW!

    It can be very hard at times but you have to fight it... instead of grabbing the junk.. step away and go grab something healthy. You'll feel so good about yourself when you do.

    Sugarlove-
    I was horrible with sugar and I still love it but I no longer crave it like when I first started. I am not sure how long it takes you body to start to get used to not craving it but it can happen. I have heard alot about being addicted to sugar much like being addicted to carbs. The more you have the more you crave them. I will try to post a treat with no sugar in it later. You can do this keeep your head up and try to find natural sugars instead of processed.

    You are never alone here. We are with you. Together we can stand the storm and we WILL win this battle.
    I totally understand about the waking up in the middle of the night and eating. When at our son and daughter-in-laws visiting and there are things in the kitchen that I don’t need to be eating in the middle of the night like cake and or cookies I have them take those things to there bedroom for the night. I have also handed things to my husband here at home and told him to go hid them from me….and he does. With little ones in the house I know it will be hard to not have those things where you can get to them during the day. Maybe you and your husband could work something out that will help you where you can’t get to them during the night in a weak moment. Just an idea.
    There are also things that I no longer bring into the house at all…..like reduced fat peanut butter. I LOVE the reduced fat peanut butter. My spoon keep finding it’s way into the jar and then BOOM it is in my mouth. Before I know it the jar is empty and I have eaten mega calories.
    They tell us if we can stay away from sugar for 2 weeks that we can brake the sugar habit and we will no longer crave it the way we did. We will still love it but we wont crave it.
    Hang in there YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Together we can do this and win this battle.

    I avoid processed sugar, and I have a favorite natural sugar treat that helps.

    Medjool dates. I slice one open, take the seed out and sprinkle the whole mess with cinnmamon. MMMMMMMMMMMMM. Plenty, plenty sweet.

    Also, quitting processed sugar and refined carbs makes the cravings go away. Refined carbs are treated by your body just like sugar, so the cravings feed each other. The first two weeks I felt like a heroin junky in withdrawal. I would have done anything for a cookie.

    Harder to quit than cigarettes. I've done both. And both are possible.
  • Thanks! Im trying the date thing today!!!!

    I've found a new snack that I really like. Low fat graham crackers, 4. Take some low-fat vanilla icecream, add in a tsp. of peanut butter, mix it all together, stuff the crackers and freeze it. Then you can have that as a snack when you are feeling munchy. It's really good! And not too many calories either. Last time it was so good, I ate it before I froze it.:tongue: The other thing is, it is pretty hard to put a lot of icecream between those graham crackers so you don't end up over doing it. Just make sure you don't take out more than 4 graham crackers. hee hee
    I also have my cupboard stacked with light jello chocolate pudding, vanilla pudding etc. so when I get hungry for a snack, I can just open up one of those, and they are really low on calorie count for the day.
    And I always have a fruit basket stuffed with fruit on my kitchen counter like mandarin oranges and apples, pears, kiwis. Then I can grab something from there if the snack attack hits.

    I have to agree with Ms Viv.

    Sugar and processed carbs create the cravings for more. Maybe it doesn't affect everyone that way, though, Viv. My brain is wired for addiction and obsession, unfortunately.

    Se la vie.
