How much should I be eating? My BMR is 1500 and I don't want to eat to little but at the same time I want to lose weight.

    I follow the MFP guidelines and eat back enough of my exercise calories to keep my net above 1200 calories, i've lost 24 pounds since december despite having hypothyroidism.

    I was wondering the same thing. My BMR is 1351 and my calorie limit was 1200. I changed it to 1351 after reading another thread. There was some advice about at least eating your BMR calories.

    Hmmmm...my BMR on MFP is 1270; it's 1351 on FitnessFrog.

    Thats what I heard too! I don't feel hungry but I feel very tired when eating 1200 calories.

    I just started limiting my calories to 1200 yesterday and I could honestly fall asleep sitting at my desk. I earned 202 more calories walking last night but did not eat them. I was extremely tired driving to work this morning. I'm not really sure that is it for me since that was just day one?

    Here's a simple calculation.

    Estimated TDEE = Multiply your weight in lbs x 15.
    To lose weight = Subtract 20-35%
    Follow plan for 3 weeks.
    Adjust accordingly.

    Example:
    Assuming you're 163 lbs.
    Estimated TDEE = 163 x 15 = 2445
    20% of 2445 = 489 --> 2445-489=1956
    35% of 2445 = 856 --> 2445-856=1589
    In this example to lose weight, eat between 1600-1950 calories. Follow plan for 3 weeks. Adjust accordingly.
