Hi, can anyone rate the Bowflex type or any other ones?

I'm in the UK so that limits my selection...unless I pay $$$ to get then shipped.

Looking for reviews on ease of use, reliability etc....

Thanks!

My wife has the 3-24 lb Powerblocks and I have the 5-50 lb version.

I looked at the Bowflex and didn't like the design - very bulky and might be awkward to use for some exercises, especially if you're doing a P90X type of routine (which I was doing at the time of purchase.) Otherwise they should be fine for the basic lifts. One nice thing about the Bowflex is smaller increments - you can go up 2.5 lbs, whereas on my Powerblocks I've got to jump 5 lbs, which can be too much for some moves.

I was leery of the dial on the Bowflex as that seemed like a problem waiting to happen ... also I've read they can get damaged if you drop them from just a few inches. However the reviews seem to suggest the quality is alright if you're careful with them.
  • I have ones by Reebok or however spelled and I am not a big fan of them. I actually broke one while doing an exercise and it landed on my foot. You also can't do as much as you can with the normal ones, or maybe that's just me.

I have had my Bowflex adjustables for 5 years and no problem. So far no breakage, dials work great. I would recommend.
