I've been at 254/255 for about two weeks now, I'm eating around 1700 calories but I'm burning around 400. So I don't think I'm eating enough or am I over eating? I've also starting some weight training (dumbell workouts) and I'm getting more muscular. Just need some advice on how I can continue to lose weight healthfully and keep getting ripped. Really need good advice, and please nothing too scientific lol

Try increasing your calories by 100 or 200. Also if you eat 1700, but burn 400, you're really only leaving your body with 1300 calories for the day. I would eat the calories back since MFP already created the deficit for you. Another thing to try is to increase your water intake.0

Yea my water intake is good, I think it was my sodium. I was always over so I think it was making me retain water.0
-
A true plateau isn't due to water retention.0

A 20 year old man who is working out and weighs what you weigh needs a LOT more calories than you are eating.
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.

Thanks for the links, I haven't been eating enough calories. I forgot that u eat at a deficit already before the exercise0
-
If you're doing weight training the 'plateau' could be due to weight gain due to muscle0

I've gained some muscle now to lose this lil belly lol0

In addition to upping calories, another common strategy for overcoming the plateau is to mix up your workouts. Your body gets used to your routine, and needs a serious shakeup about every three weeks.
A few examples: If you run, do your route backwards or choose a new one. You can also try high-intensity interval running instead of running at a steady pace (google HIIT for some examples). If you weight train, do your exercises in a circuit, or do them in the reverse order you would normally do. If your gym offers classes, throw in a really intense one once a week (bootcamp 90 min spin, etc.).
Basically, try to challenge your body with things it's never done before.0 -
I am not sure what I am doing wrong started this diet on the 1st January, 2012. I have been good for so long and have only lost 5pounds. I have plateaued for weeks. Lost 3 cm off my bust, 15cm. offf my hips and 1 cm off my thighs but no further weight change.
I exercise 5 days a week. I mix up my exercise. Do zumba, aerobics, and since 1st April do 1/2 hour of zumba or aerobics and then do 30 days shred which includes weight training. Still no change in weight. Very Frustrating !!!
Anyone have any suggestions. My food target for the day was 1200 calories and have now upped it to 1260 calories. Am drinking lots of water.0 -
They say, "Abs are made in the kitchen", so eat as clean as possible. That should help get rid of that extra fat.0
-
Make sure to wash your food with soap to make it cleaner.0
-
Be sure to eat (or even exceed) your protein intake. The body burns more calories/fat digesting protein, than carbs.0
-
Eat more vegetables. The coloured ones with lots of vitamins and minerals and enzymes.0

Plateau's are normal. They can last a week or two. I always change routines up when I hit a Plateau. Do a different cardio. Change your lifts to something new, Change your reps and sets. I always work more on interval training to break through. Just stick with it and ignor the scales for a week or so. Goodluck.0

What does this have anything to do with a fat loss plateau?0 -
My Dr. says it happens to most losing weight and to just wait it out and you will eventually break through it.0

@ KENNY: Im not sure I understand your question. Plateau's are basically your body resetting. When you hit a Plateau and your stop losing weight for a period of time , that's when its good to change up your routines.0
