I'm eating at IHOP this evening w/my parents and some family friends.
I would not normally pick IHOP but it's their choice and I want to join for the fellowship.
But I also want to choose the best meal that is going to be the most filling and nutritious for the least amount of calories.

Any suggestions?

Spinach and mushroom omelette, skip the hollandaise.

get them to make you egg whites/ egg beaters....or sub them in a veggie omlette (hold the cheese and meats) . Also grits with NO butter. Oatmeal is also a good option.

some kind of fish , veggies and only eat half the rice or potato and get a salad with no dressing or low cal dressing ... or grilled chicken instead of fish ( i myself dont like fish but am trying to eat it while plugging my nose LOL LOL LOL )

I believe they have a "healthy options" page on the back of their menu, and they list some of the nutritional info. There is a veggie scramble that is very tasty!
  • cool, that's what I am hoping, that they have a healthy list or something

I'll keep those in mind. Definitely good ideas about the egg subs and choosing the veggies, etc
And definitely no matter what I get, I'm going to make sure I only eat half. They always give such gigantic portions at restaurants!

There is a health section in the back that shows calories and micronutrients.

The lowest is the spinach, mushroom, and tomato omlette with a side of fruit, 310 calories. There is also the Tilapia Hollandaise for 400 calories that comes with a side of broccoli (I'm not sure how many calories if you do without the hollandaise).

It's called IHOP FOR ME!!! it's the lighter version of their foods... and it gives you calories, carbs, fat and everything else you need to know before ordering it.. i would pick one, see how many calories you have left for the day and stay within those calories.. plus order two glasses of water that way you won't be tempted to order soda or anything else..
  • thanks for the link

all the healthier choices sound really yummy

YAY for not having to blow my good week :)

Most main stream resturaunts have a website with the nutritional value's listed on them. So whenever you go out, look up what your going to have before you get there. Also, plug it into your food diary before you go to make sure you won't go over your calories for the day. Thats my 2 cents.
  • I'm definitely not going to go over my calories for the day.
I'd have to eat an 800 calorie or more meal to go over.
I'm so not going to do that. I'm going to stick to 400-600 for dinner and that'll put me almost exactly where I should be for the day.

Yay!! I'm *so* happy to see IHOP has healthy-ish menu options... I'm going there Sunday morning!

Isn't this website awesome?! :flowerforyou:
