I was having the same troubles and I asked my trainer what to do. He told me that it's 70% diet, 30% exercise. So make sure you are keeping a "clean" diet. That doesn't mean just making your calorie goals (cause we can fit bad food into that) but eating good calories. Leans meats, veggies (I'm sure you know). And when you do strength training, make sure no matter what you are working, you keep your abs tight, that will work them more than a normal crunch! Hope this helps!

I would say my diet is pretty clean, how ever im not scraed to indulge here and there if i know im going to be burning off the calories. Im thinking ive really gotta incorporate the weight training into my routine. I think ive hit my first major plateau and ive gotta change my exercising up. how many times a week is good for strength training?

I stick to doing it 3X a week, and work different parts of my body each time. Do a day of legs, day of shoulders and back, and a day of triceps/biceps for example, and I usually throw a little ab work in each time. A good workout is, for 5 minutes warm up with cardio, then 30 minutes of strength training, then 30 minutes of cardio! You burn a lot more calories during cardio after you strength train! I hope the info helps, good luck :)

Others on here will probably disagree - but what has worked best for me is watching sugar intake. Even natural sugars from fruits, etc.

My general rule of thumb is <5g per meal and <35g a day.

Along with everything else that has been said, make sure you incorporate high intensity interval training as your cardio. Don't just get on the treadmill or elliptical and log away. HITT will help burn those cals faster. And yes. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN diet. I always ask my clients how bad do they want it? Dairy in your diet can also contribute to this excess belly fat.

    Hope this helps!

There are many things that can cause a plateau... The other thing is you you cannot spot reduce fat burning..
The best way to go about it, is to keep your diet as clean as possible and to obviously keep active.. The suggestion of strength training is good..

To many woman think its all about cardio and then they realise that they are not happy with how they look... The fact is Muscle burns more calories...

The sugar is also killer... its a bad carb and honestly has no good attirbutes really at all.. I try and have minimal sugar possible... It can also come down to under eating, if you are not eating enough you will not burn the fat.

Change a few things, and just tweak things here and there and see how you go

I can't agree enough with the other posts. I too have had to accept that when it comes off through food and exercise it will come off all over. It's difficult to target an area e.g. building my pecs to get rid of my pescy moobs. Same as tummy. You can build the muscle under neath but until fat stores are depleted across the whole body it won;t look like your acheiving the look you want.

Having said that, when you do lose the excess, woah baby :D. There's no magic bullet unfortunately.

This has been the best exercise program I've ever done. It's intense, tough, quick and can all be done at home. Check it out. I promise you'll see results.

I have been doing a lot of research on how to get fit/lean and almost all I have found has recommended high intensity weight training. This is a short exercise (only about 20 minutes, but it continues to burn calories WAY after you stop working out...unlike cardio. It has really worked for me...I have lost 30 lbs and love what I see when I look in the mirror. I see you have a baby...I too have 2 children..the youngest 8 months. I never thought I would get my figure back, but I am looking better now then before kids. I would recommend a lot less cardio and a lot more strength training. Good luck to you!

Start the 100 pushup training program, free, online, amazing results...yes Ladies you can do it! Google the 100 pushup training program. It floors how many people run out and spend money on kettle bells and whey powder like it's going to solve all there problems. Thrust me, this program will work your lower tummy. 4 weeks ago I could only do 7 pushups. I'm on column 2 and did 5 sets, with a total of over a hundred. My final goal is to be able to crank out 100 pushups in one set. You need muscles to do that.

    Agreed.

I hardly ever eat clean, and I've lost all the fat around my mid section and have a very flat stomach... so it can be done while eating junk.
