I've got a couple comic book conventions coming up, one in 10 weeks, and then another one 2 weeks after. I've been working hard to get down to a more appropriate weight to be Wonder Woman in the costume contest, and for once I'm really confident that I can portray her in all of her strength and glory :] I'm a shortie at 5' 5", and weigh 157lbs. I'd like to lose another 10lbs if possible by the second convention in 12 weeks. I tried doing the extreme 1.5 a week, but it only served to get me stuck in this miserable plateau. I'm increasing to 1500 cals instead of 1200 that I hated. I do cardio 5 days a week losing between 500-1000 cals depending how crazy I'm feeling. I really need some help getting through this as I need to trade in these thighs for something more lithe :D I've heard of putting lemon juice in water, and I've switched to drinking the 70 cal Silk Soy Milk Light. I love love love fruits and vegetables, and I avoid chips, soda, and sugary snacks like the plague. The worst I do is when I get a craving for chocolate and eat several servings of chex mix or the 100 calorie fudge shortbread packs. I feel like I'm doing the most I can plus the few breaks I need, so why can't I get any further?

  • A lot of processed foods have hidden sugar.

My personal opinion...it isn't always how much or little you eat...its what you eat...all calories are not created equal. Certain foods cause stalls & gains.

    this ^^^

i think you're on the cusp of discovering that nearly any food that comes out of a box is holding you back. It's been processed to death and probably contains some sort of high fructose corn syrup or other artificial sweetener.
  • I guess that's just what I didn't wanna hear, but it's good that I'm learning it. Do you know of any tips like certain 'superfoods' or ways to curb appetite? The only processed food I eat is the Healthy Choice meals which can contain lots of sugar, but only in some. I eat the ones that have less than 7g, and I know that some of it comes from the fruit dessert in the meal.
  • My diet consists of mostly raw & organic green veggies...high in fiber...spinach asparagus cabbage chollards etc, stawberries raspberries lemons oranges apples, lean protein like broiled chicken breast no skin, cod, flounder, halibut, tilapia, elk, (little red meat & only lean cuts every now & then) s...& usually things like healthy choice meals have hidden sugars...lots of different names for sugar ;) treats to me are a dill pickle, cottage cheese...can curb a sweet tooth by making a fruit slush. Ex: 4 strawberry, 1/4 cup water, ice, a couple drops of vanilla stevia...blend...yummy. ny daughter thinks its icecream
  • Things to curb appetite...lemon water....water, water, water. Use seasons like cinnamon, cheyenne, curry, cumin, ginger, use Apple cider vinegar. These things are natural ways to help curb, metabolize sugar, aid in digestion

Make sure you are not over doing the carbs. Eat foods high in protein, they keep you fuller longer. I was also on a plateau and I decreased my carbs from 180 grams to 100g, and increased my protein from 80 to 120 and it did the trick. Everyone is different, and I am not an expert but this worked best for me.

Eating high in carbs just make you feel more hungry within an hour, protein sustains me longer

  • Thank you so much for the support :D I'm so excited, and I know I'll feel so awesome when I cosplay her. I've decided to order a few waist training corsets to gradually pull in my waist over time as well as doing my diet and exercise regimen in hopes of expediting the process. I've seen friends do it before, so I know how to corset train safely. Besides, I have not the time or mood to put myself in an unhealthy/ dangerous situation that will ultimately set me back. I'm definitely posting pictures of my Wonder Woman cosplay when the time rolls around :]
