Best way to track?

Hello, I am trying to figure out how to accurately track my actual calorie expenditure and needs without going to the expense of buying a Body Bugg. I am 5'2 and 171 LBS and want to get down initially to 135. I have a desk job, but I also have a treadmill and desk that goes over it, and I have been tracking calories burned while I walk using a Polar FT7. It says when I walk 1.5 miles per hour (about as fast as I can go and still type) I use up anywhere between 105-120 calories per hour depending on how much my heart rate fluctuates I guess.
I have a BMR of around 1,450 plus anywhere from 200-400 calories per day used from walking (it varies, and once a week I take a day off walking). Is this right? I have been losing weight and my shape is really changing since I started walking (firming and losing around my big bertha butt) but have lost a total of 9 pounds in 14 weeks, so it seems maybe I am not calculating this correctly. I would like to lose a pound a week if it is possible, but I really don't want to be even more hungry than I already am....

I don't really have an answer to your question, but I am curious about something ... you said you walk 1.5 miles per hour...as you type. What are you doing while you're walking? Laptop?0

I have a Trek Desk and use my laptop. Eventually I would like to outfit it with two monitors and the desktop by its side but I don't have the ability to fit a keyboard tray on it yet so it is just used 2 to 5 hours per day. It is helping cure some longstanding back issues (not sitting all day).0

I had to Google it to see what it is, but very cool. I wouldn't mind one of those for work!0

Really worthwhile. I wasn't losing until I started using this so I KNOW it is helping and is honest to goodness exercise, albeit very light0
