Running store??

I have been reading a lot of posts about going to a running store to get fitted. I don't know what you mean. I have never seen a "running store" I see foot locker, and such but I don't think they fit your foot. How does a person find an actual store that would do all of that?

    A running store is just a store that sells gear specifically for running. In CAnada we have a chain called The Running Room. There are a number in the states. Their staff is trained specifically to fit shoes and most are really knowledable in running. They often have running programs as well.

    I did a quick google of the place you have listed and running store. It gave me a couple of options, on is Scranton Running Company. I have no idea how close it actually is to you. The closest running store to me is 4 hours away. I hit it up whenever I travel or find one wherever my destination is.

    Defiantly not Foot Locker ;)
    Fleet Feet seem to have a big presence on the East coast too - growing up in the Michigan, I never saw them till I moved to California though.

    You could look at like adidas or New Balance or Asics and look for dealers nearby. Ones that you don't recognize are often the better stores ;)

    OH Thanks! I will have to go to the Scranton store, it isn't that far. I can never get shoes to be comfortable so this may be the way to go.

    I go to RoadRunner for the most part but a lot of small towns have locally owned running shops. Another option is to google some local 5Ks and look at their organizers and/or sponsors - most of them will have a local running shop!

    I think that ****'s Sporting Goods offers for you to see a Running Specialist as well. Just Google Running Stores in your area, you will surely find one!

    Having two teenagers heavily involved in sports, I've spent quite a bit of time in our Richard's (sic) Sporting Goods store and have never, ever, not once, seen a shoe fit specialist. I have never even seen the guy working shoes check somebody's size.

    Here in Pensacola we have a small locally owned store called Running Wild that all the local runners go to. I'm going there for my next pair because the pair i just bought Sunday aren't going to work out but i'm going to suck it up for 3 months since the hubby was proud of himself for picking them out. you can look on facebook for local running club's or google to see if their is anything close by your area.

    Can't remember if it is in Wrentham or Kittery outlets. It used to be in both but is onl in one of them now. I think Kittery Maine.

    Yeah, same here, even though they SAY there is always a someone to help with that...there isn't at any of the locations I've been to.

    We have a place here called Fit Niche...not sure if they're anywhere but this area.

    here in Washington state, some of us go to Mount Vernon to Skagit Running store. Look at some local 5k or 10k runs pamphlets they normally have a store sponsoring the event
