Everything works!

As I read through the posts here I see a lot of "my diets better than yours" kind of talk. The truth is if you are in a caloric deficit you will lose weight. Therefor every diet that creates a deficit works. The only thing that really matters is...can you stick to it?
The number #1 reason why 95% of people who lose weight gain it back is because they didn't change their lifestyle. They didn't lose weight in a manner that allowed them to continue the same diet plan long-term.

Too many of us see diets as a "quick-fix" for weight loss and that's exactly what they will be because the weight comes back quick. Then

This summer I will have my 8 year anniversary of losing 100lbs and it's because I'm still on the same diet plan I was on when I was losing weight. I've never stopped.

The best diet in the world is the one that YOU can follow and stick with. I just implore you to focus on long-term success and not on how quickly you can lose X amount of pounds. The numbers are heart-breaking, 95% gain all the weight back! Be one of the 5%. To do this you need patience and you have to choose a weight loss plan that you can follow from now until the end.

    Thank you

My way is just one way. My program is just like the rest of them that work, I create a calorie deficit. I just focus on a week to week calorie deficit instead of day to day.

Obviously mine is my favorite because it worked and I can still "pig out" like I've been known to do. Different plans work for different people. If it works for you then it was a great plan. I only have issues with "crash diets", things like HCG (500 calorie diet) or the new feeding tube scam. People need to go through their weight loss journey the right way. If you change your lifestyle instead of "crash diet". You lose weight and gain knowledge that is instrumental to your long-term health.

For those just beginning their journey. My best advice as someone who kicked obesity's *kitten* is to pick a plan you can stick to. It makes no sense in my mind to do something crazy for a month to lose 20lbs only to have it all come back.

Success isn't reaching your goal. Success is maintaining your goal.

Amen! One of my Weight Watcher leaders told us one time "don't do anything while losing weight that you aren't willing to do for the rest of your life" that was one of the best pieces of advice I have ever heard!

Absolutely right. I wrote something very similar in a previous post today as a coincidence!

It's basically us and losing weight is really the easy part. It's not gaining the weight back over long term that's hard.

    Yes!
Thank you, I agree absolutely - it really doesn't matter how you are eating, as long as you are getting a moderate amount of food which gives you enough nutrition to stay healthy and happy and full of energy. And that you stick toit.
I've decided that the most important tool for weight loss is persistence. Anything will work in the short term but persistence is required for long term health.
