I have worked out here and there over the years, and can handle small amts of running at a time. I do best with interval running. The thing that has always kept me from continuing to run and to work up to longer distance is my lungs. I feel like i dont have a lot of lung capacity. my lungs wear out way faster than my legs do.
Well, I joined a fitness boot camp type program last week, and yesterday they had us run a mile outside. I ran most of it, but did walk a min here and there The problem was my lungs were ON FIRE!!! It was around 60 degrees, so not too cold. Im not kidding, my lungs were in agony. I also noticed I got a ton of phlem too, which is not normal. Afterwards I was coughing for the next hour and my lungs continued to hurt for quite a while. Several hours later I noticed that I was wheezing pretty badly.
Today I tried to go out on an interval walk/run.... after jogging only 1/8 of a mile, my lungs were on fire again! I had this issue in the past if running in the cold, but never like this!!! Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on???

I have the same problem and my doc said it's exercise induced asthma -- I have an inhaler that I use when I go to the gym, especially if we'll be doing a lot of running or jumprope or any heavy duty cardio type stuff.0

Same here with the asthma...It's rough. It sucks when your legs and mind are so ready to go, and your lungs just won't let it happen. I jogged my first mile today without any breaks! It can be a slow journey, but it feels so great when you beat it!!
I hope you figure it out!
