Last fat to go - frustration

I've been using MFP for a little while now not because I was in desperate need of extreme fat loss, but because I got tired of being in average shape and wanted to track my calories accurately while exercising to slim down to the body I want. Therefore, it's not the pounds I'm interested in, but the fat loss.
So far, it has helped tremendously - in most areas. I, unfortunately, am a man blessed (cursed?) with some large hip bones, and it would appear also have a genetic predisposition to have that exact area be the last to get rid of the fat. While the muscle grows on the arms and chest, and the skin firms around those areas, my hips and lower stomach seem to have the same amount of fat as they did when I started vigorously working about 6 months ago.
Needless to say it's frustrating and a little depressing. I never go over my calorie limit (I don't bother to track calories burned through exercise, as I mostly do lifting/full body exercises, not plain cardio anyway.) My protein intake is high, my carb intake low. If it's as easy as calories in vs. calories out, what am I doing wrong?

Have you tried changing your programme a good bit? I find that when I get stuck, changing your workout is key.0

This type of transformation takes time. It's easy to lose weight and bulk up in some places, but yeah your washboard stomach ain't gonna appear after 6 months.
You need to be patient and stick to it. If you stop focusing so much on the end result and wanting it NOW - it will happen before you know it. And if you relax a bit, you are less likely to get fed up and give up on it, imo.0 -
Did you actually measure yourself?
When I first started, I measured myself around that first month mark. Then, 6 months later discovered the whole time I thought I wasn't getting results... I was measuring myself at the wrong place! All of a sudden, I discovered I'd lost 10 inches on my waist and didn't realize it. It takes a long time, myself... it took a year and I still have only lost 5 inches from my lovehandles. They are 7 inches wider than my waist still! Not cool!
Watch your diet, get some cardio here and there... you'll burn that fat ;D
Also, take monthly progress pics. Every other month... I see the changes0
