Just starting out on a weight loss diet and feeling a little uncertain....I've lost weight in the past and put it back on again (and more!) Now I'm slimming along with my daughter and son-in-law, as my daughter has been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and will probably need to lose weight before she can start fertility treatment, so this seemed like a good time for all three of us to commit ourselves to losing weight.

Because of my daughter's condition, we're trying to reduce carbs, as this is believed to benefit women with PCOS, but we don't want to go down the Atkins route because of the fat intake (I have slightly raised cholestrol.) So maybe a modified low carb diet....Low GI is also supposed to be good for PCOS and I have a couple of books on the subject but find it rather complicated.

I'm thinking that calorie counting might be the way to go...Probably. Maybe.

mix a healthy diet with calorie monitoring, and some exercise, you get
lower cholesterol, bloodpressure, increased metabolism and weight loss.

Welcome and I really hope you and your daughter and son-in-law can
stick with it. this site is great, the community is second to none.

    Best of luck

Hello! Welcome bunches! Not proper English, but the sentiment is there.
  • Thank you, all of you, for the welcome. I'm beginning to get the hang of the site now, though I'm currently having to input quite a bit of data - there don't seem to be a lot of UK brands listed. I think it's going to be extremely useful, to keep track of exactly what I'm eating and how much exercise I'm doing. Helps me to feel more in control.
