Happy Feet & Vinegar

Since starting the C25K I have learned the benefit of keeping your feet happy and healthy, so I thought I'd share a very cheap and easy way to be kind to your feet.

If you want to keep your feet happy and healthy there is no better or easier way than to spray them with vinegar after a shower.

Vinegar deodorizes!!!

Vinegar is an anti-bacterial so it prevents athlete's foot, and kills germs to prevent infections if you have blisters, like I did.

Vinegar is an anti-fungal so it keeps you from getting those thick yellow/black toenails - and will even cure them if you spray your toenail every day, two times a day with white vinegar (Though mind took about 5 months for the toenail to grow out and the new clean one to grow in. It has not returned)

Vinegar keeps calluses soft because it is acidic.

I keep a spray bottle of plain white vinegar by the shower (It will also kill mold and mildew - but it will eat grout so only use it if you have a plastic tub surround, or on your plastic or glass shower curtain thing)

I spray my tootsies as I get out of the tub and let them air dry. I t sounds too easy to be true, I know, but it works.

Okay -- to be very frank -- I have stinky feet. :embarassed:

    When they sweat, they stink.
If they are hot, they sweat.
If they are COLD, they sweat. :noway:
    Just sweaty, stinky feet.

So if I go spraying my feet with vinegar, it should kill off the bacteria that makes them stinky.... or at least help reduce it.

But will I then smell of vinegar all day?? Will I be trading one smell for another?

I understand the cravings though. I will eat mustard and A1 sauce on ANYTHING and in HUGE quantities when I start getting my vinegar cravings. I have been known to eat spoonfuls of those condiments. WEIRD!! :indifferent:

No that's the great part! If you use white vinegar as soon as it dries it does not smell. The Apple Cider Vinegar works too but it still smells a little bit once dry.

I also use white vinegar as a fabric softener. It's cheaper, and is a great fabric softener, and your clothes smell like nothing at all when dry. I'm so in love with vinegar. :)

Kurneckc....you use white vinegar as your fabric softner???....in the washer??? Do you use the same amount as you would the fabric softner? And it doesn't leave your clothes smelly? It isn't hard on the clothes? It is an acid so have you noticed anymore wearing on your clothes than normal washing does? This is amazing to me....I'm very intrigued by vinegar now. :noway:

I use about a half a cup of white vinegar in the rince cycle. If I dont' want to catch it during the rinse, I just put it in during the wash cycle right with the detergent. I discovered this somewhere via Google - I was searching for a GOOD Fabric softener because I have hard water and I do not use a dryer - got rid of mine, in an effort to conserve energy and be more green (and I'm a penny pincher).

My towels and blue jeans when line dried were stiff - I started using Vinegar and while the towels are still not as fluffy on the line as they are in the dryer they are now soft. The Jeans are very soft, can't tell the diff between line and dryer dry now.

The clothing does smell like vinegar until it's dry. Once cry there is no smell at all.

I have not noticed more wear on the clothing, but the colors are honestly brighter. Vinegar keeps them bright somehow. I have not noticed them fading - which I was looking for. I've been using vinegar like this for about a year so I think I would notice by now.

My daughter is /very/ particular about her clothing (I'm not so much) and she is happy.

There are a lot of uses for Vinegar out there, and you can google it. I read an interview with someone from the Heinze corporation that manufactures vinegar, and he said that they can not advertise it for /anything/ except food because if they do they loose the right to sell it as a food.

I disinfect my counter tops with Vinegar and wash all my veggies and fruit with it too. :) I just keep a spray bottle in the bathroom and at the sink.

My mom was telling me about all the cleaning uses of vinegar, so this isn't "new" to me. I still haven't tried it yet.

And as far as it making the colors brighter.... may not be related BUT.... you use vingear with Easter egg dye kits and those colors are mighty bright!! At least brighter than the kits you mix with water. Just a thought..... :flowerforyou:

This is so amazing to me. My Grandmother has always used, and taught me to clean the coffee pot with vinegar once in a while. I just never took it any farther than that. I have been looking up all the uses on line and I am so inspired to "go green" and save $ too. If you are interested in saving more $ check out the site www.blulow.com. I just found them and I am going to make my own laundry and dishwasher detergents this week. I can't wait to try it. Thanks Kurneckc for posting this today!!! :flowerforyou:
