How to Tone
AssembledIncorrectly
I'm new to this and I don't have a gym membership..I have 3 children and NO time for the gym. I have no difficulties working out at home, my babies love to mock me BUT I wanna tone up while loosing weight. I've been reading about strength training...but with no membership to a gym and no money to buy an expensive equipment what can I do with my own body to achieve the same/close results? Thanks

Here is a post I made to another member that asked a similar question. You can get a 40lb set of Cap adustable dumbbells for $30.00 (and add additional plates as needed for $2-4 dollars each. a pullup bar for $18.00 and an exercise ball for $10.00 at walmart. You can get just as good of a workout at home using these inexpensive things that don't take up any space as you can at a gym.
Ok here is the program/split. To keep it simple try to do 8 reps for every set. If you can do 10 reps, raise the weight for the next set, if you can only do 7 reps or less ,lower the weight for your next set. Also try to limit your rest periods between sets to between 1 minute and 1 minute and 30 seconds. I choose to do my cardio and abs on my off days but you can mix them in to fit your schedule/ needs etc. Also please dont be intimidated by lifting!! (we all were when we started but quickly realized that there wasnt anything to be scared of)

most at home machines are not very effective and will end up in your next garage sale.
The best toning exercises you can do at home are simple body weight exercises, most of which are actions replicated by machines anyway - mostly to ensure your form is correct.
Try variations of squats, lunges, crunches, plank holds. Grab a swiss ball and a couple of cans/plastic bottles if you cant afford weights. Shadow boxing with weights up, to the side and to the front will help with toning arms.
Pushups work. Burpees work. All the hard things you think you can't do are the ones that work.
Skipping is a fantastic cardio exercises with toning abilities too.
Steps, stepups or jumping up (very wide) steps are also fantastic to tone your thighs and butt
That's just a start Let me know if you need more!0 -
