Need ideas for Side Dishes for a BBQ

You could make a broccoli salad, or a whole grain pasta salad. You could make a veggie tray with low cal dip. I would probably stay away from the cheesy potato type dishes. Even if you use low fat cheese that combo would be high calories. I've made fruit kabobs before....they were really good. Just cube up and assortment of fruits, melon, grapes, strawberry halves....yummy stuff! You could do stuffed mushrooms in a healthy way.....stuff them with a little sun dried tomato pesto and parmesan.0

i was also going to suggest a type of chilled salad such as a wheat pasta side or something with fruit. you could go for a salsa to bring as well with some baked chips or maybe a dip made with light ingredients?0

I always make a caprese salad for BBQ's - It is low cal, healthy, and everyone loves it.
- Sliced tomatoes (I personally use grape and slice them in half)
- Fresh mozzarella diced
- salt & pepper
- drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
- drizzle of balsamic vinegar
- chiffonade of fresh basil leaves
Make it an hour or two prior to event so it has time to soak up all of its yummy goodness.
I usually use a ratio of 2/3 tomato and 1/3 mozzarella... It really is up to you.0 -

Ellie Kreiger has a great spinach & whole wheat pasta salad that I took to several BBQs last year with rave reviews. I have also started to bring a Peach & Basil Salad to parties this year. The links to both the recipes are below:

Check these out. Sorry, I don't have the calories for the last two, but I don't think they would be that bad.0 -

Better for you sides,
perhaps cauliflower and unjury protein powder cheese sauce http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/high-protein/mac-n-cheese/proteind-cheese-sauce
The down side is, It isnt Velveeta.
The up side is, its loaded with protein, low carb, and it isn't Velveeta.
Cabbage rolls (beef, rice, paprika, rolled up in cabbage leaves and cooked in a spicy tomato sauce)
LARB is a delicious Thai spicy salad that has cilantro, red chili flakes, and ground chicken or pork (or of choice) wrapped in a cool lettuce leaves, can also be served mixed with lettuce for an awesome salad.
Deviled Eggs with crab or olives or capers (these additions mean flavor is not compromised for a mayo reduction)
Hummus and veggies
