Ok, has anyone ever done this before or anything like it???? I think I want to do the San Diego one in November. I just wondered what to expect. It will take training, fund raising, and ignoring the people who don't think I can. What else?????

  • Sorry, it's 60 miles in 3 days! lol
  • I did it in 2009 and by far, the hardest part for me was the fundraising.... I made the minimum, but barely, and I worked my BUTT off to raise funds- chinese auctions, benefits, charity yardsales, letters, letters, and more letters.... The training gets VERY boring after a while, so try to hook up with different friends to go on lots of walks with. Also, there are groups of ppl thru the 3 day community that get together to do weekly walks. You CAN do it!!! It is very time consuming, but when there's a will, there's a way! GOOD LUCK!

Just be aware that after the fiasco earlier this year, you might have serious trouble with fundraising. I have supported a friend who always does the walk, but will not be going forward. I just send my money directly to the organizations involved in the work, instead of the middleman (SGK).

I wanted to do this..until I found out about the fundraising requirements. I mean seriously, your already paying to participate in the race, should every person have to raise over $2000+ in money? I think that is ludacris. If it's that serious just raise the price of entry to $150 and draw a larger crowd of participants.
  • What fiasco earlier this year???? I'm out of the loop I guess. I am concerned about the fundraising. I do have a lot of avenues to go down for it, but it's a lot of money! That's why I posted this topic. All your advise is appreciated!

I don't mind running/walking for a cause, but I don't like having "fundraising" goals that are so sky high. So, I won't be participating even though I believe in the cause.
