is it better to...

is it better to eat food just to get up to the 1200 cal mark or eat until you're full? today i wasn't very hungry and ended up eating about 1100 cals and mfp informed me that i "should eat at least 1200 calories a day". i'm not hungry right now and honestly don't want to get up and eat something just to eat.

(sorry if this is a stupid question, i've never really had to deal with this before.. i've always been on the other end, eating too much haha)

  • I normally eat when I am hungry and to what I can stomach. I don't try to force myself to eat as much calories just because it says so.

Don't force yourself, but don't make a habit of falling under the 1,200 limit. If you find it's common that you aren't getting your minimum, try adding more calorically-rich (and nutrient-rich) foods, rather than low-fat/low-calorie options.
  • thanks guys. i ended up going and getting some crackers so i hit the mark and it would stop messing with my brain, haha.

thank you :) i'll do that on days like today when i wake up late and don't have much time to eat 1200 calories ;). most of the time i eat too much, so this is a first for me!

This is a great answer. It's all about regularity... if you find your appetite has fallen for a few days, you need to make a change, and there are lots of calorie-dense options out there.
