Haven't jump roped since elementary school I'd guess. But I know it is pretty good exercise. Any tips for starting out? Am I still going to burn a fair amount of calories even if I'm going slow?

'High, low, medium, slow' is my personal favorite.

I like to use mine as an asanawa. Not sure if I'm burning many calories, but I'm having more fun than I did jumping rope in elementary school!

Japanese Jute rope. This rope is manufactured in Japan and imported, providing a top quality product for US rope enthusiasts. Jute is much lighter than hemp and holds knots beautifully. Our asanawa comes from the top manufacturer in Japan and is available through us in the US for the first time.

It's amazing exercise, I was reading about it, and decided to give it a try today, 5 minutes fast was all I could manage... But what a burn and 80 calories in only 5 minutes!!! Are you still jumping rope?

Jumping rope was so much fun in elementary school. Then I went and had 4 babies and turned forty. I can't jump rope with an actual rope. I always (tmi alert) pee a little. BUT I can pretend jump rope but don't get me giggling. :ohwell:

When I lived in Florida, there was this older guy that was in REALLY great shape that used to jump rope while I was taking a martial arts class. I would position myself in the class so I could stare at him in the mirror. He was so good looking.

  • I use one, usually right after my jog, kills any reserves I have left. Good burn.
