I either have a protein shake after a run that has carbs in, or try and get some carbs on board to replace glycogen in the muscles
usually a wholemeal pasta dish0 -
I just drink milk after exercise, it has everything you need.0

I usually do cardio (treadmill or elliptical or something similar) for about 40-45 minutes before my weight training sessions. When you run your carbohydrate levels in your body go down, which is why it is very good to fill up with carbs just afterwards. However, you don't need much. I think bottled recovery drinks (I think most gyms sell them) are way too expensive, so I just usually have 2 or 3 pieces of candy. After cardio is probably the only time ever that the body will happily use white sugar for something good
After my weight training sessions I'll have a protein shake. A whey 80. It has some carbs in it, but I wouldn't take it after a run because when I run I don't use up proteins in that way, so I feel a protein shake after a run is just unnecessary calories.0
