Advice on elbow issue?

Before anyone throws it out there, yes, I plan on seeing my doctor this week...

I have been seeing a personal trainer a couple times per week, and love it! Thursday (3 days ago) he had me do push-ups leaning on a bar. I have done them before like this as well as regular ones on the ground - not a big deal. Upon the first push up, I noticed a tingle in my elbow that shot all the way down to my pinky finger on my left arm. I was still able to do the full reps/sets, it just felt like I hit my funny bone. I've noticed a very slight numbness off and on the past few days, and can replicate the tingling whenever I flex my biceps (um, no, I wasn't just standing in the bathroom doing that...) A little research led me to find it may be the ulnar nerve (pinched/entrapped?)

Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, what was the treatment/recovery time? I've heard that your chiropractor may be able to help with this, so I'm not sure whether I should make an appointment with her or my general practitioner.

Thanks for any input/advice.

Pushups can be treated kinda like bench pressing but without the excess weight.
when you do a push up your arms should be at about a 45 degree angle from your sides.
Some people try to do this at a 90 degree angle and end up hurting themselves.
    Also dont lock it out.
    You dont have to!

Had the problem since i was 14-15(28 now), it comes and goes now that I have gotten older and the activities i do. I have had all kinds of tests and they couldn't narrow it down to more than compression in the ulnar nerve canal in the elbow, and typically the only option is surgery. I chose to deal with it, bc at the time, the surgery options were not so great.
The dr may suggest some tests to see where the nerve is being pinched, and might not be so bad. Just make sure your not doing any further damage and you should be able to do anything and work through it.
Feel free to message me if you want to know more about the tests.

Thanks for that tip. Just tried a few, and no pain/discomfort at all! So now I know I can at least continue my workouts, but still have to fix the problem before it gets any worse.

Yikes, hoping surgery is not necessary! Guess I'll see what the doctor says, but it's good to know I'll be able to work through it. Thanks!

Treatment and recovery time will depend on each person and the severity of the injury. Discuss first with your PCP, and then let the PCP direct you from there.....

Thanks, probably time for me to check in with her anyway!
