Petite Girl Needs Help with Calories...

Hi!
I just started using MFP today. I'm 4'8" and looking to lose about 10-13 pounds. Even though people may not think my small frame doesn't needs to lose weight, a little weight gain shows! I'm just hoping to be at the lower end of my healthy weight range. When I enter in my info into the MFP calculator, it puts me at 1200 calories per day. It will not let me go below this value no matter how many pounds I want to lose a week since this is the minimum calories per day the NIH recommends for women (I was hoping to lose a pound a week. ) With 1200 calories/day, it it projects me as losing 0.3 pounds a week. I was hoping for a little more, but don't want to go too much below what is suggested. Having difficulty figuring out how many calories/day is good without slowing my metabolism to the point where I don't see the scale move. Any advice would be great!
Thanks in advance!

you do need to eat to lose weight, and its not all about cutting calories in your food intake. look at what your calorie intake is now. you should be cutting 500 calories a day in order to lose one pound per week (total of 3500 calories a week). This shouldn't all be from food. up your exercise daily to get your calorie deficit. the calculators on this site certainly aren't the be all end all of diet and wellness. if you aren't already, focus on eating healthier foods and cutting out sodas and alcohols. if you make the small changes and add exercise, you will see a change. but it is important to not go below 1200 calories.0

Give it a try, and see how it goes. MFP says I'll only lose 0.2 lb per week on my calorie allowance, but I'm averaging more like 1.5lb per week.
It's a calculator, it doesn't know your body or how it works.
I was going to say that with such a small amount to lose, you should set MFP for a half pound loss, but it would still give you 1200 anyway.0
