To my previous post about cardio/aerobics, someone had replied:
"Getting your heart rate to 70% max burns fat, anything low and more is not productive. "
How do I know what my heart rate should be????????????????

For start youc an use
MHR = 220 - Age0 -
my pulse goes way over my that equation0

My age is 31
My MHR comes to 189
If i do 70% of that i get 132.3 ( I'll remember it as 130).
So now relax and count your pulse, keep the finger on your wrist like a doctor and looka the clock.
I get 65bpm which is my resting heart rate without activity.
So plan is to raech 130 and keep it at 130 (70%MHR) for 15-20 min.
Keep a log book , you will be amazed with the results.0 -
The MHR calculation is generic and doesn't work for everybody. If you want a true test of your max, you can have it tested (you can probably estimate it yourself if you have a heart rate monitor).
I'm 45 yrs old and my recent test from my cardiologist calculated 199 max heart rate (but would only be 175 based on the generic equation--220 minus 45).
As such, I typicaly work out in the 155-165 range for optimal effect.0 -
Correct.
This is a cheaper way to calculate , if you dont have a HRM or want to visit the doctor.
with the 220-age you will always be on the safer side..0
