I kinda feel like I've come into a conversation that's half-way through....0

I feel like I just walked in on a punchline. "So I says to him...I know that's your toaster, but I sure as hell ran faster than that sardine can!"
...What?0 -
I guess my mom was mentally a dude, because she always told me that when I was younger.
Damn, my whole life has been a lie.0 -

i just read some of these posts from young women, talking abou ttheir SO who is 20-30 years older and they are 18 and they say "im an old soul" or "mature for my age" and as a guy who has a daughter I wouldbe remiss if I didnt call bullchit0

Maybe not such a good idea at 18 to be involved with someone who is older, but later in life, not such a big deal....0

So when your female friend who is totally straight and is four months your junior says it, is it still a lie?0 -

Perhaps your daughter is less mature than other women. I was the mother of a 3-month-old the day I turned 18. I was never interested in partying. I never did a single drug. I preferred quiet, reflective time long before it was age-appropriate and when I was 19, I was dating a 34-year-old and the age difference was most definitely not an issue. And not because he was not mature.
I also see my 31-year-old friend with her 60-year-old husband and they are a beautiful, loving, happy couple who fit together perfectly. And I get along great with both of them.0 -

The problem with this theory you have, is that usually, it's the GIRL saying it...not the guy feeding it to her lol.
Seriously.
I think it's kind of bull**** too though in a way, I mean...mature for your age is one thing, but expecting a relationship like that to work is like buying one lottery ticket a week and expecting to win the jackpot. It can happen...but it's not likely. Things like that have nothing to do with maturity, they have to do with life experiences and the vast differences in outlook those life experiences give.
Plain and simple.
By the way, this is coming from a guy who was with (and had two kids with) what seemed to be a very mature girl that was 12yrs his junior...for seven years. The custody I have of those two kids, and the hell we went through when she reverted back to 'her age'...are sort of proof.0 -
Prove me wrong.
It's a belief of an individual. You can't prove OR disprove that.0 -

First, having an "old soul" is completely different from what you are talking about which is, "being more mature then your age". Having an old soul means that you have intuition and knowledge that others your age would not have but does not necessarily mean you act more mature...you can have an old soul and still be immature. Old soul may also relate to reincarnation due to reincarnation is answer as to why you have intuition and knowledge others your age wouldn't have any other way.
That said, I understand why people think being more mature then your age is BS but for some people but it is true for some people. I have always been more mature then people my own age. My friends have always been atleast 5 years older then me since I was atleast 16. Even my friends now, are five years older then I am. I am 25 and most are over 30. In high school, I preferred hanging out with people who were in their 20's more because people my own age were into things I wasn't into (like drinking, doing drugs, and not taking their school work seriously...(yes, I was an A student and what most would consider a "nerd"). That said, I do feel their is a limit to the whole age difference when dating but I feel it depends on YOUR age at the time of the possible difference. If you are under 18, stay in a five year difference. 19 to 29- 8 year max, Over 30, case by case.0 -

Thank you. That's exactly what I was thinking when I opened this thread. I have only ever really heard 'old soul' applied to children and babies, anyway.
And as it stands, I'm 18, nearly 19. I have been working for the past three or so years. I pay for me. I pay my own bills. I pay rent. And, although I am constantly growing, changing and maturing, I am pretty darn mature for my age.
My ex was 29 LOL.0 -
