Do I really need protein powder to help lose weight?

I read an article this morning and part of it said:
The article: " I'm losing pounds but not inches. What's wrong?
This usually means you're not strength training or eating enough protein, says Aragon. Pick up some weights, and add six ounces of lean meat to your post-workout meal or mix two scoops of protein powder into a smoothie or yogurt. Each option yields about 40 grams of protein, the amount you need to lose fat while preserving metabolism-revving muscle".
What's your take on this? Can anyone, jock or not, benefit from the belly-flattening power of protein powder?

Protein doesn't help you lose weight. Calorie deficit does.0

Protein fuels the muscular body you are after. If you eat a lot of protein already you don't need to. Food is carb/protein/fat...which do you think would give you the body you want? Low carb and low fat diets lose weight (aka eating lots of protein) NOT high carbs or high fat. lol
I've found that 2 single scoop protein shakes a day give me more protein in the day 52 grams. Just watch the labels...many powders are high in calories, sugar or carbs.0 -
The conjunction "or" was used in that quote0
