okay...I have a quick and probably silly question. Before I lost 40lbs the doctors put me on high blood pressure medicine (25mg). Well tonight like a second after I took my medicine I tested my blood pressure and it was 120/63. My question is...is 120/63 a good number and how low will the medicine make it drop from there?

Hi There,
The medication doesn't usually take effect for about an hour after you take it.
How much it will drop is dependent on WHICH medication it is.
www.mayoclinic.com is a very good site for credible information.
If your blood pressure has lowered because of the weight loss, you will need to talk to your doctor about weaning off the medication over a week or two. DO NOT STOP IT ON YOUR OWN -- doing so can cause what they call "rebound hypertension" and can be very dangerous.
All the best,

With all the weight you lose, you should tell your DR. so he/she can adjust your dosage, or take you off. 120/63 is good. I don't know how far BP meds take your numbers down, but you want to be sure to tell your DR about your weight loss so the meds don't take you TOO low.0
