I don't get it either. I love water and I don't drink anything else except for protein shakes.0

Well, don't forget... fish **** in it.0

I love water personally, but maybe people hate it BECAUSE it has no flavor?0

I guess if you lived on an island and couldn't swim that would be a fair reason.
I don't dislike water but it's neutral and doesn't have any taste, (or it shouldn't). It's the ultimate thirst quencher, but given a choice I prefer flavoured water or fruit juice.0 -
I personally love water...
but I'm weird and love the taste of city tap water
Maybe to some people it just doesn't feel satisfying enough. Or not as satisfying as juice or something. It must be harder to make the switch when you've lived with other beverages for so long.0 -

I would say this is it. Some days I have no trouble with it, like especially hot days when I'm hot and thirsty all day, but sometimes I struggle with drinking enough water mostly because it's so boring and flavorless. Those times I like to add a little something to it to make it more appealing, like a slice of lemon, lime, or cucumber- which sounds weird but I actually think it's great.0 -
<-- is weirdo. My favorite drink is an ice cold glass of water.0

I love water - especially when it's icy cold on a hot summer's day
If I ever get bored of water on it's own I just add a splash of cordial - simples
It's pretty much the only thing I drink at work unless I'm falling asleep at my desk then I'll have a coffee - but I still only have 5 cups of coffee per week where some of my colleagues seem to have 5 cups of coffee a day!0 -

If that makes you weird then I am the poster child for weirdness!!! I water!!!0 -
Not to be the nerd... but water does too have a flavor... it is usually because of the minerals that are absorbed on the way from the treatment facility to your tap... or even those that were not filtered out..... and well water... whoo! My grandparents used to have well water and the sulfur in it made it smell and taste funky!
In any regard, some people just aren't used to the lack of flavor that water has...0 -

ya nerd :smokin: lol kidding...but you're right I guess it does have a flavor. But I just feel like its so weird but I am sure there are people who think mustard and mayo is weird together...but I it lol0 -
I dont get it either, i would pick water over everything else and hate cordial, it leaves a funny taste in your throat and fizzy pop leaves you feeling bloated. Nothing refreshes you like water. Infact they did a study that said drinks like coke can actually make you more dehydrated.0

Yeah I don't know how you can think that water has no flavor, or that it all tastes the same.0

It has little/no flavor, or you only have sulfury (rotten egg smelling) water? You always choke on it whenever you drink it? These are the only reasons I can come up with. Personally, I love plain ice cold water.0

To be honest though.... when I'm in a kick of not wanting to drink water... it is because it's not super sweet, like sodas are or tea can be... I have to make myself drink water before that perception of lack of taste and lack of satisfaction goes away.... I go back and forth all the time.0

I used to be a major soda drinker... just the idea of all the sugar in my body started to gross me out! I still have one occasionally, and have a diet soda if I just need something sweet, but I can't imagine not having water now. I prefer it cold out of the tap or filter (at work), no ice. I drink so much water my coworkers and husband tease me about living in the bathroom. Where you get it from does make a difference though. I used to have city water that was so gross it really made me naseous to drink or smell it. Then I moved to the country and had wonderful well water. Clean and crisp! I'm back in the city but the water is drinkable here.
I think a lot of people that complain about it are just used to having some flavor in it.0 -
It could also be that their water has some flavor they don't like. I need to filter my well water because it's a shallow well in a marshy area and I find it unappealing in large quantities. But run it through a simple charcoal filter and I can swig it down all day long, warm or cold. Some city water is revolting to me, while other cities have a perfectly drinkable product.
When I traveled a lot, I used to take flavor packs with me. I'd try the local water and if it was palatable I'd drink it. If I disliked the flavor, I'd use the flavor packs (as a better alternative to wasting money on bottled water).
However, I also know plenty of people who are so used to everything having a flavor that a relatively flavor-neutral drink like water is unappealing to them. It's a symptom of living in a processed-food society where artificial flavors are amped up to the point where there are significant portions of the population that don't appreciate natural flavors.
"These strawberries don't taste right at all! They have some tartness to the flavor! There are seeds! They have a texture! They need to be rinsed! There are bad spots that need to be cut out! Not like my real stromberry froot stickz"
As you might be able to tell, I have a hard time guessing at what artificial flavors are supposed to represent. Not that I necessarily dislike them, but I categorize hard candies by color rather than flavor claims, because "purple" is a flavor I can accept from something that doesn't taste at all like the "grape" the label claims. I see almost no resemblance between any candy or medicine's "cherry" flavor and a fresh cherry. And "watermelon" - what kind of watermelon are you trying to simulate? Martian or something from another galaxy entirely?0 -
It's because there's no flavor. I grew up drinking water. I rarely had juice or milk or soda. So now as an adult, I drink water, tea, and coffee (sometimes). My husband grew up drinking soda and juice and milk. I've banned soda from the house, so he can have milk or water (I rarely buy juice). He prefers milk. He will actually drink water at this point, but it's rare.0

I have some friends who have one of those carbonator machines that can instantly carbonate any beverage. When they get bored of water (as we are all wont to do occasionally), they'll start making their own fizzy water, which at least gives it something of interest. It also leads to some fun experiments - "carbonated milk" is nowhere near as revolting as you might think, for example!
Not my thing, but hey, if it works for them, it works... And it's cheaper and healthier than buying soda.
I do the same thing you do. I just focus on the healthy aspects and drink it on down. I generally get over it in a day or so and then it's back to my love for pure, clean, healthy water.0 -
I drink mostly just water and love it, but when I go back to my folks I tend to buy bottled water as I don't like the water there. So maybe some areas don't have nice water?
I know people who don't give their kids/babies water because they (the parents) don't like it so assume their kids wont either. :noway:0
