Underestimating portions/calories

Hi All,

What are your biggest challenges in tracking or estimating calories? I just realized tha I have been using measuring cups for my cereal (which I love and will never give up!) and that this resulted in a weight that was actually 1/3 MORE than a serving size. Because I usually eat few "servings" a day, this has resulted in significant under reporting (and probably why I have plateaued recently). I now weigh all my portions and have cut back on the calories.

What foods do you find hard to estimate or portion proerply?

Matt

I am usually pretty good at estimating the size/portion of my food but that is because started out weighing and measuring EVERYTHING I at. I know what size bowls/plates to for different sizes. For instance my kids old "baby food" bowls are almost the exact fit for 1cup of cereal with a 1/2 cup of milk.

Good point - once I weigh, i know for bowl size too. I think I was in denial for my cereal portions...at least I know where the extra 300 calories were coming from ...and where the were going! :grumble:
