Abs/ Core strength training

Options
What is your favorite ab workout? I have a curvy spine and would like to work on strengthening my core but general crunches (especially reverse crunches lowering legs) hurts my lower back. I've tried an exercise ball and just don't feel it. Any suggestions appreciated.

Planks are your best friend for strengthening your core. Start out doing 3 sets of 30 seconds each and work your way up to minutes.

Thanks for the advice, what would be a good goal time? I mean, how many seconds and sets of each?

Deadlifts and back squats are fantastic core strengtheners.

Started doing planks and side planks and can't believe how much my posture is improving. I just try to do them for a minute, two times every other day.

This may be more intense than what you are looking for but I have heard good reports about a program called Hip Hop Abs that is fun and dance like without yucky crunches or anything like that. I don't know much- just been hearing that around. Good Luck!

Planks... I really like doing things with my legs (like reverse crunches) but you said those hurt your back... Maybe try using a pull up bar to do some ab work. I just did a search on youtube for "ab workout on pull up bar"
