Creatine doesn't make muscles more visible nessesarily. It fills the muscle tissue with water which helps them to repair and recover more quickly. A side effect may be that they look swollen or bigger. The only realy way to make muscles more visible is to reduce body fat for both women and men.

Now I know Wikipedia isn't exactly the best way to get information, but this is pretty much spot on from what I remember from a physiology book.

A side effect of creatine is water retention. Its actually used to help with the synthesis of ATP, which is in turned used in the anabolic process. Creatine occurs naturally in red meat and some other sources, supplementing it just gives a higher concentration. It does increase water retention in the muscle, so if you use it you will get a more rounded out muscle look at first, not the defined/toned edges you're looking for. But it should help with muscle growth.

Its not "male" or "female" dependent it occurs naturally in every living animal.
