What do you eat before you work out?

Thats it? But a quick note about me and my goals:
1) loose weight
2)eat healthy
3) add some muscle, but not bulk
4) started a learn to run program (5k)

I was hoping to find out from you guys what is your routine before you workout and why?

PS..... I'm down 30 pounds and I'm really enjoying my new way of life. I only wish I had done this sooner!

    Congratulations on your success! You will have to do some experimenting to see what works for you before a run or workout. I like to eat a little bit of carbs and protein about 2 hours before a long run - like sweet potatoes and an egg. If my run is shorter I might just do a banana an hour before.

    It depends what exercise Im going to go do. Monday through Friday I swim and eat a kashi granola bar about an hour before my work out and then drink a protien shake about 20 minutes before my workout. It helps me not feel hungry during my workout and give me energy to complete it.

    On days that I run (currently just on Saturdays) I only eat the kashi granola bar about 10 minutes before hand. I am only running for 30 minutes currently but home to be able to run for longer in the future.
