Will dry cleaning remove a musty odor from a wool coat?
I picked up this awesome wool pea coat (brand new with tags) at a thrift store the other day, then when I got it home I realized it's incredibly musty smelling. I dropped it off at the cleaners, but they said there's no guarantee that the musty odor will come out. Anyone had any luck getting a musty smell out via dry cleaning (or other means)?

If it can be washed in a machine, try washing once with vinegar, then again with baking soda. They can often get rid of that sour musty smell. good luck.0

Being it's wool I don't think you can wash in the washing machine:noway: ? I could be wrong but...what about that Febreeze that they advertise?
Good for you find a "rare find" at the thrift store:drinker: I hardly go but I was having a large comforter washing at the laundry mat cuz it didn't fit in my machine when I ventured off to the local goodwill across the street...I found a Macy's 99.00 zebra new blouse for $10.00 bucks. I scored big time it had the tags still hanging on it:bigsmile:0 -

I love thrift store shopping. My daughter and I hit them once or twice a month. She usually finds too much, and I rarely find anything, but that day I found so many cute things. One of the benefits of being down 25 pounds.
No, it can't be washed. I wish.0 -
hang out on the line on a DRY [not humid] sunny day for a couple hours
and/or
Place 2 tsp. of pure tea tree oil and 8 ounces of water in a clean spray bottle. Spray the front and back well but do not saturate it. Tea tree oil has a strong smell so it is recommended to keep children and pets away while the rug is wet. The strong smell will fade with time.
[i found these for wool rugs, but hey wool is wool, right? LOL ]
good luck
hmmmm maybe bagging it with bounce sheets? aren't those supposed to have magical powers too?

If I get it back from the cleaners and the smell isn't out, I'll try some of these tips.0 -
Good for you down 25 lbs. wow...it is much more fun to shop now for me too even though I haven't lost very much (yet). I feel better now that I can kinda see my feet (finally)
Tell us how it works out with the wool coat? Just curious myself. I always thought thought that even the agitation of a wool garment in the wash cycle will shrink it.... period. So let me know K? I'll learn right along with ya woman Have a nice night:flowerforyou:0
