It is State Fair time here in Minnesota. The joke is you can get just about any food on stick at the state fair. So my question just for fun what is the most interesting food on a stick that you have eaten? I am partial to the deep fried pickle on a stick. They inject pickle with cream cheese:noway: put it on a stick dip it in batter and and deep fry it. I am sure there are no calories in that     but yum:love::love:

What's your favorite food on a stick?

P.S. I did not eat a pickle-on-a-stick this year at the fair. Maybe next year when I am at my goal weight!:drinker:

Snickers bar inside a dougnut batter deep fried with powered sugar on top. (On a stick of course!) California state fair.

Never going to eat that again... I think more then one in a lifetime will kill you

The state fair here in Texas is famous for their fried foods. I have yet to go in the 6 years that I have lived here. My husband is not a fan of fairs. When I did go to the fairs when I was younger I would always have to get the fried dough. YUM

There is also pork chop on a stick!
  • I lived in Edmonton AB for a summer a few years ago where they had a big multicultural fair with foods from all over the world. There was one booth (I totally forget what country it was), but they had the most delicious and actually healthy food I've had on a stick. It was a peeled mango with lemon juice and some sort of very spicy spice (similar to cayenne but I don't think it was). Yummy!

    BIG FAT BACON

    Description:
One-third pound slice of bacon fried and carmelized with maple syrup, served on-a-stick with dipping sauces.

From the state fair's web site!

Was it Gustavus or St Olaf you went to? Not that there's more than one small Norwegian college in MN!  I grew up outside of Fairmont, on I-90. Haven't been to state fair since I was a senior in high school..........eons ago back in 1980!!!! I must confess the only thing on a stick I ever ate there was corn dogs; I wasn't a very adventureous teen!

Sounds fattening, but wow this guy makes enough money in a few weeks at the fair that he has quit his full time day job. Can you imagine only working about 50 weeks a year?

Not from a fair but a friend stuffed a peanut butter cup inside a cupcake dipped it in batter and deep fried. Hot fudge and whipped cream on top.

Im currently stationed in Biloxi, MS and needless to say they have plenty of weird and delicious things on sticks... I personally like the coconut shrimp on a stick... but they also have Gator, Chicken, Sausage, and of course the famous Corndog.

A cream cheese injected deep friend pickle.
I just had to mop up a puddle of drool.
    THAT SOUNDS SO GOOD.

Did you mean days? Cause I think most people work 50 weeks in a 52 week year!

And since that pickle isn't at our fair, I seriously thought about quitting my day job and running a pickle booth at the fairgrounds!!!!

The coconut shrimp sounds good to me. I'd try that.
  • I still go to the State Fair of Texas here in Dallas. My all time favorite is the Fletcher's Corny Dog! Except no subtitute! But last year the winner of the fried foods was Chicken Fried Bacon! It was not on a stick but I couldn't help but mention it. This year they are doing Fried Butter! I will not be trying neither of them this year but I will have to be good up until October the 15th in order for me to be able eat my Fletcher's Corny Dog!

I have never even seen a deep fried pickle let alone tried one !!! I like pickles and cream cheese but idea of them together and fried sounds kinda yucky to me. If I do ever see one I am going to try it though. Cindy

It wasn't on a stick, but a few years ago, I had fried Coca Cola at the Texas State Fair. Coke-flavored cake batter, deep fried and layered in a glass with Coke syrup and whipped cream. Yum!

But, hands down, a Fletcher's Corn Dog is the best -- drizzled with mustard … mmmmmm …
