I'm 31yrs old, and I have a 6mth old baby girl that I breastfeed. I'm on the depo shot for birth control and I have been dieting and working out since around the beginning of February. My weight when I started was 190lbs then a few weeks later I went down to 185lbs. I thought that I was doing good, but then several weeks after that I went back up to 189lbs. I didn't change anything.
Could it be the birth control?

Yeah I've heard a lot of people gaining from that. Certain pills can make you gain as well, but that's really dependent on your personal make-up. I've been on the NuvaRing for a couple years now, really like it. It seems a little weird when you first try it, but I'm very sensitive to medication and it's had very little effect on me which I love!
  • Yeah, I heard that alot of women gain weight while on the shot. My baby is too young for me to get off of it just yet. and there's not alot of birth control that I can get on because I breastfeed. This sucks, I have been working my butt off to get this weight down, so discouraged right now.

You could look into getting an IUD - long-lasting, super-effective and not many side effects. There's a hormonal version and a non-hormonal version. The hormonal one is low-dose and if you're okay with hormones anyway, it should be fine. I have the non-hormonal one (because I didn't want to be on hormones anymore) and I have worse cramps and heavier periods, but I wouldn't change it for anything.

    Good luck with your journey!
