When is the best time to get a protein shake in? Before or after a workout?

I have one for breakfast every day. Then I have another on an evening if I've been lifting.0

You'll see a lot of talk by folks that lift that you want to have a good amount of protein in you before a workout, then slam a shake post workout with some good "fast acting" protein.
The reality is that your body is digesting nutrients all damn day. Folks who build a high amount of lean mass are doing so effectively not because they are taking a protein shake at the magical timeframe before or after training, but because they are steadily ingesting protein in high amounts period.
Honestly the best pre-workout (aside from some supplements out there like Assault) is something like grapefruit and black coffee. Carbs = energy, and caffeine is a basic stimulent.0 -
BCAA before/during
traditional shake after0
