Heart Attack Grill
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/another-heart-attack-grill-customer-collapses-while-eating-191647836.html
Suddenly, McDonald's doesn't look so bad. You hear about the government constantly going after McDonald's to cut down on the fat in their foods, and the issues with the kids and their Happy Meals (which the parents buy!), but this is the first I have ever heard of this food joint..and someone has even had a heart attack eating there before! I no longer wonder why our country has such a high rate of obesity. Unhealthy food so easily accessible combined with people who either don't care about their health or are lazy=accident waiting to happen.
I applaud all people here on MFP who are working towards losing weight. Its not easy, but at least you care about your health!

i give that restaurant more credit than mcdonalds.. atleast they own up to how unhealthy their food is instead of hiding it and marketing some products as healthy alternatives such as mcdonalds does.0
-
Personally, I think its a novelty. Id go to the restaurant for sure if I was in town where it was. Its having the understanding that this is a once in a lifetime restaurant, not once a day restaurant. Personally, I believe they are quiet honest. Ive seen interviews with the owner. He says dont eat our food. Its extremely unhealthy and dangerous. He admits its unsafe. Intrestingly enough, the owner used to own weightloss clinics, but he is making more money with this restaurant. If they tell you its wrong, they dont lie or hide it, I believe its the customers fault if they get hurt.0

Ive gone there,it was ok. Would I go there again? Probobly its only a restraunt, and its up to me to take resposniblity for how I eat.0
-
We have one in Dallas now.
Not anymore...CLOSED0 -
This is was the second person in 2 months to collapse. They own up to everything, but it's a bit excessive. People over 350 lbs eat free. I can't believe the owners can be proud of this.0
-
Is there not a single post that SOMEONE doenst get all arsey and 'I eat what I want' with their attitude? This was not a dig at people who still eat it, just a comparison and an applaud for those who DO eat healthy...
I love these pics! make me never wana eat them again :P0 -
I love when people try to blame the nationwide obesity epidemic, affecting everyone from the young children to seniors across the country, on one restaurant.
You're right. It's awful the way we all are forced to eat there and order terribly greasy food and then they prop our mouths open and make us eat it.
OR people could try and take a little personal responsibility for themselves. But hey, it's a lot easier to blame a restaurant, isn't it?0 -
my daughter and i want to go on a eating road trip and try all of the restaurants on DDD. also, want to take on some of the challenges on MVF. heart attack grill was one of them---this would be great except for one thing---troll (my daughter) is a vegetarian. LOL.0

This is natural selection at work. I say we take the warning labels off everything, and let the idiots self-identify.0

Mmm... so bad. XD0

It takes more than a few fatty burgers to cause heart disease. These people have been eating unhealthy meals for years.0 -
Damn that burger looks good. Hope we get one in the DC area.0

Honestly, I have no issue with that restaurant. I kind of like the idea of them offering unfiltered cigs, greasy food and alcohol, considering the government constantly trys to ban or limit these things. It's a place of freedom in a world where someone else is always wanting control over your body!
I would eat there, not regularly but at least once!0 -

Not really. It's like the parents who post articles to facebook all day about child abuse cases or stories of other poor parents, or the people who like the people of walmart blog to laugh at the folks pictured on it. It's just a way to huff and puff and feel all superior about something (even though they'll deny it to the end) with a little concern trolling (but but but ... your HEALTH) thrown in. It's just a restaurant. It's not even a national chain. It's not the cause and the motive for all of the fat people in America, and it seems a little silly, if not disingenuous, to act so shocked and offended that it exists.
Edit: Moreover, OP, obesity is a little bit more complicated than simply "not caring about your health" or being "lazy".That's the hallmark of an ignorant view of the situation, it's hateful and judgmental and dehumanizing. So I have no problem calling it like I see it.0 -
I would have eaten there, but that was before I made the decision to eat healthy. The people who go in there regularly also made their decision to do so. It's not the restaurants fault. They didn't put a gun to their heads and force them to eat all that greasy food.
I bet more people die from people drinking and driving than they do after eating a Heart Attack Grill burger/fries.0 -
No one is forced to eat there, they choose too.0
-
I wasn't blaming it on one restaurant; I realize that its an array of things that lead to obesity, and that eating unhealthy & not exercising are the 2 top reasons of obesity. Sure, some people have genetic disorders that can contribute to obesity, but that isn't the top reason of obesity.
And huracan, as far as comparing my post to the array of examples you gave, I will call it like I see it and say -you- are wrong. This is the first post I have ever made regarding obesity and eating unhealthy. Did I make fun of anyone? Don't believe so. In my opinion, of which I am entitled to have, the leading causes of obesity are eating poorly and not exercising.0 -
Btw, I can honestly say that I have seen many pictures of the people of walmart, and I will publicly say I have had a good laugh at some of them!0
-
McDonalds is way worse imo. They don't just cook unhealthy foods, they fund and design unhealthy and addictive foods which they then market to children.0
-
"No one can accuse The Heart Attack Grill of false advertising."
I wonder how much of short term boost they get in business when something like that happens. Probably more than I would like to think.0 -
those burgers look gooooood...0
-
With a few exceptions, restaurants/fast food places really don't have what is deemed healthy food. Even though McDonald's markets towards kids, its the parents that buy the Happy Meals. I had never heard of the Heart Attack Grill before, but like one poster said, you can't accuse them of false advertising!0
-
I hate to say this because I really dont believe in Big Brother regulating everything a restaurant does, BUT... (here it comes)
I do think that places like this may need to follow some sort of health "guidance" - this is the 2nd person in a few months who have had heart problems after eating here.
There is something to be said for that.0 -

ANY publicity is GOOD publicity0 -
simple fact is, if people wouldn;t pay to eat it, restaurants etc wouldn;t seel it.
Too many people point the finger of blame instead of looking at themselves. When I smoked, I knew it was bad for me and that it was my decision.
If I get fat from eating too much that my fault, nobody and no restaurants0 -

That's very true. I agree. No one is forcing anyone to eat this stuff. Good point0 -
Its my Mams fault. Its the governments fault, its the churches fault.
No, its your fault, you smoked/drank/ate it. Sick of this blame culture.
I couldnt be my fault surely not, that would mean I made a mistake and that couldn;t be true, sure I'm perfect0
