Well, after watching a lot of documentaries about red meat, I think I will pass. Other then the farm raised Deer I occassionally have, anyway.
Chicken, Fish, lean pork for me....
I watched a program about certain beef companies in the US, combining the left over carcus in with feed and seed and refeeding to the live stock, therefore, causing mad cow diese, but to prevent this, they have federally regulated the steroid and anti-biotics they use, in case the live stock does happen to show signs, and this just clears it all up????
OMG!!!!

Bans on this were implemented shortly after the British ran into their problems in the 80's. It shows up in sheep and farm raised deer under different names. We have recently been warned about Fish both farmed and ocean as they are contaminated with mercury. Parasite issues with pork have increased Pork must be well done to kill it. Chickens have their own issues, it was only a year and half ago all chicken in north west North America was pulled and destroyed. We have seen recently problems with onions and sprouts contaminated with ecoli. The list of food problems actually has more contaminated veg & fruit than anything else. It can be scary all the things that can go wrong in the food supply but you have to eat.0

I miss growing up in the country. Most of our meat was hunted. Wild game is probably the healthiest meat you can get these days.0

All farmed meat not just red meat is treated the same way. Here in the uk they made it ilegal to feed the brains and spinal cord to animals but everything else is still ground up and fed back to them. And has for antbiotics and steroids chicken is the worsed.
I agree with msarro, Wild game is the best.... scottish deer ...

I completely agree. I spend the extra money for free-range/grain-fed/no-antibiotics/no-hormones/etc, not so much because I think it tastes very different, but because the treatment of the animals is better. I like meat and don't think I could give it up, but I try to be responsible about it.0

I sopend the xtra dough too, but sometimes, you really need to read it all. I'm not a big red meat eater anyway, but I'm trying to do better.0

We haven't bought beef in my house for about 12 years. I've taken two deer every year since 1996 and that's usually enough to keep us in lean meat through the year.
My wife does still buy chicken and pork sometimes but wild turkey will substitute for pork in virtually any recipe so we keep that to a minimum. We do eat way too much processed meat like lunch meat and hot dogs. :sick:0 -
I love deer meat. A friend of mine goes to Alabama twice a year and comes back with two freezers full. I can't think of the place it's called....
But I am almost out!!!!
Other then fish and chicken, I only eat meat a few times a week.
But for actual red meat cow meat, I have had 1 burger in about 3-6 months.
I usually mix deer or ground turkey with turkey sausage and grill away, sometime ground chicken works well too.
Including meatloaf....0
