What am I doing wrong?

Hello. I've been using FMP since the fall and had a great start - 16lbs! But now almost 6lb have come back even though I have gotten to the point where I am running a 5k 4 times a week. I have changed SHAPE more than I've lost pounds and that is encouraging but why is my weight staying the same? I am about 15-20lbs behind where I wanted to be by now. My 2nd daughter just turned 1 and I am getting depressed/discouraged. Any pointers? I turn 30 on June 1st. My goal is to be able to run a 10K by that point but my goal is also to weigh less. Help me!!

Hello there-I can't say that you are doing anything wrong....what it sounds like is that you are losing inches and size (good thing) but that your weight is staying the same. If this is the case, I would encourage you to do some measurements and track your success and efforts off of that. The scale can be very misleading and cause much distress in its fluctuations but measurements can be an encouraging and rewarding method of measuring your success. Keep eating well (at least 1200 calories a day) and working out (cardio and strength training ) and you will continue to see improvement even if the scale does not move.
Hope that helps-good luck!0 -
If you're running a 5k four times a week, that's amazing! Congrats!
As for not losing weight, I really don't know. I can't see your diary, so I can't tell how you are eating. If all the exercise you are doing is running, this may also be an issue. You may have run off a bunch of your muscle too! Causing a metabolism slow down, and hence the stall in weight loss. Start adding weights to your exercise routine. Heavier the better! Inches will fly off you, and you'll boost your metabolism as well, making it easier to lose the weight you want to lose!
Make sure you are eating enough. Eat more on days you workout, because you need to keep your body properly fueled. You do this by either eating more in general or by eating back most of your exercise calories. Make sure it's healthy, non-processed food too. It can make a huge difference!0 -
Like the above poster, hard to say that you are doing anything wrong and if you are eating well and excercising as well with strength training you are more than likely exchaning bad body weight with good body weight that is going to help in your journey.
Another note, you sound like you are progressing in your goals for running, and you are making positive changes in your body. Remember your successes as well, don't dwell too much on the scale.
Keep at it, don't get discouraged. You got this0 -
Toning and muscle does weigh more than fat so maybe you are building muscle but as long as you are loosing inches that is great!0

What are your daily calories? What are the grams of carbs, protein, and fat? What is your RMR/BMR?
I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong too, but if no one can see what you're doing, we can't tell you if the 800 calories you eat per day are a contributing factor (they say eating too little is, though I'm still dubious...)0 -
I'd rather lose inches than lbs. Most of the weight you gained back is probably muscle. Inches are AWESOME to lose. No worries woman! You are doing good! Keep it up!0

Thanks everybody. I'll try to redo my profile so people can see what I'm eating. It's not all that bad! I just worry about sugar levels. Stinkin Chiobani makes me go over! Grr. I am encouraged by your words. I guess I am just frustrated by the few people at work who, with the new year, started the no sugar and no flour diet and they are TINY now!! And I feel like I've been working alot harder than they have Anyway...thanks for the kind words0
