INDENTED CYST?

So.... this isn't actually weight-loss related, but I can't figure out what the heck this is. I will consult a dermatologist, but I was just wondering if anyone else had it.

I have what a dermatologist years ago termed an "inverted cyst" on my leg (interior calf). Which isn't really a thing. And I decided to leave it alone. 2 years ago, a second one showed up a couple of inches from it. So I was given some cream, which helps it not be red/purple, but does nothing about the dent, each of which is about the width of a pencil eraser or a kernel of corn.

Last night, I noticed one under my arm, just above my elbow. Same size, but not discolored. Now I'm a good sport about the ones on my leg, but this appears to be spreading. So.... anyone ever seen/heard of/ had this?

Seriously, I'm kind of scared (and, you know, scarred).

I got something called Baker Cysts before. They are from damage to the joint from exertion. Basically, it is joint fluid pressing against the nerves. They do not go down. Basketball or Football players sometimes even get them on a knuckle. They are PAINFUL when they burst. It was much better to get them drained. It could be that?

I think you should go to the doctor about this.

I get cysts often, and have seen a dermatologist for them. I don't think they are anything to worry about. I know they can remove them, but you would still have a divot there. I actually had one between my eyebrows and had it removed, worse mistake ever!

See, here's the thing: it IS a divot. When I asked a dermatologist abut it because I was getting a regular cyst removed, they said that removing it would just leave a BIGGER divot.

And as long it was just the 2 on my leg, I was cool with it. But now there's one on my arm and if I get one in a more obvious spot, I don't think I'll be so sanguine about the whole thing.

Basically, it's the proliferation I'm worried about: the ones I have, I can deal with, but what if it's indicative of something MORE?

If it's indicative of something more, seeing a doctor is truly all you can do, right? Don't fret over them now, just wait until you see your dermatologist. Hopefully that will help!

The issue is that I've shown them to several derms before and they just said it was a cyst (growing inward?) and not to worry about it, which was fine when it was just the one, but we're up to 3 now, and I am not willing to look like swiss cheese here.

Super late on this - you should go see your primary care doctor. This doesn't sound like a skin issue.

He's seen it. He wasn't worried. Neither were 2 other primaries who've seen it. I believe the technical term for it is "a benign skin thing".

I've never heard of indented cysts before but if you are getting ruptured hair follicle cysts that are clearing themselves up then I guess it's possible that the small indents could be remnants of them? If that many doctors have seen them and aren't worried then you shouldn't be too worried either. If the cosmetic aspects are bothering you then maybe your derm can refer you to a cosmetic surgeon who might be able to help?

Has your primary care doc made sure they're not in some way related to an autoimmune disorder (lupus or the like?).

No, but it's just the one. (Love your name, by the way. Browncoats for life).
