Gaining weight

So, I have not been doing well lately at all and I am okay with that (well, sort of). I have been binge eating every day for a few weeks now. I can't remember the last time I didn't go over my calories by a long shot. For awhile I wasn't logging anything because I didn't want to see it. But I want to get passed this so I have been trying to log every day. I have even tried to maintain a small walking routine of 2 miles a day (I know it isn't much right now).
I have been eating thousands of calories over my maintenance. So I was expecting some sort of weight gain to happen. However I wasn't really gaining weight that much, so I was kind of feeling like I really could continue to over eat. However, one day my weight jumped up 2 and a half almost 3 pounds. The next day (I am a daily weigher, not like it matters) it went back down to what I started at before the almost 3 pound gain, so I was like *phew*.
But then.... after that it was like I haven't stopped gaining. It was only a tiny bit at first which is fairly expected if you are eating an excess of calories, so I wasn't surprised. (Btw I feel like maybe I am completely insane to actually see a continued weight gain and continue to over eat,) But then I decided to try and go to the fitness center to try and counter act a little bit of what I was eating. So for the past 5 days or so I have been doing my walks and then doing the stationary bike for an hour. Not only that, but lately instead of being 2000 calories over I have only been 500-600 calories over. I know it is still a lot and I am being very honest with myself. The weight gain has gotten A LOT worse since then. Like I am doing "better" yet my weight is sky rocketing.
So to give it some numbers, my weight about 17 days ago was 114, then it fell to 110 for about 4 days. Then it jumped back up to 114, then down to 112. So at first, it was just fluctuation really... which I would imagine is normal for day to day weigh ins. Then it was a steady gain of about .2 to .4. Then... it was 114, 116.2, 117.4, and now it is 118.5. Like... what? Why is it doing this? I thought I was doing better. Why am I gaining almost a solid pound a day? I mean I have been going over my calories the past 4 days but NOT binging!
I drink A LOT of water, probably a little over a gallon a day and I have been drinking this much through out my weight loss/maintenance and now.
I mean I know that I have a lot of work to do before it stops, but why is it happening so fast? Is it really going to continue to jump up this fast?

It takes your body a while to convert the unneeded calories into fat stores, just like it takes it a while of being in a caloric deficit to burn fat stores.
Of course if you want weight gain to stop and reverse, then you need to get back to a caloric deficit as suggested by this site based on your goals.0 -
I don't know this for sure but it sounds like it might just be sodium and water weight. Eating more fiber and veggies and drinking more water should help with that.
If you continue to gain weight, maybe you should see a doctor?0 -
Yeah, I know that I need to get back into a deficit if I want the weight to come back off. But I am not at that point right now. I have to focus on getting this binge eating under control. I will be okay with not losing for a bit.
I guess it makes sense if it took awhile. But it still seems like it is going a bit foo fast. I will try and drink more water, try and eat a little less and see what happens.0
