I would advise going to a specialist running shop. The people who work there can get you to take a quick 10 meter jog down the road and will know what will suit you. This will be based on your running style and how you step as well as foot form.

Go to a specialty running store. There they will watch how you walk, to fit you with the right stability shoe. From there it's what feels good!

Get a short run in them while at the store, they'll watch how they work for you.

It should take in to account your pronation (over pronation, neutral, or underpronation) and how your foot strikes the ground (toe. midsole, or heel) and then there are a host of other factors, weight of runner, strength, weight of the shoe, yadda yadda yadda.

Your best bet is to go to a real running store and they will watch you walk/run and fit you for shoes.

If you can't get to a running store runner's world online has a pretty good shoe finder app.

Its different for everyone. Nike has a store called run. Try to find one in your area they work with you on what kind of shoe to buy, buy testing your run and everything. There are also running shops that do the same. GOOD LUCK (:

I have two pairs of Brooks and love them both, but you should find a shoe that YOU love. Go to a running store, Road Runner sports is a good one, don't know if they are in your area.

    Good luck!

I third or fourth the find a running shoe store. I had always bought whatever name brand was on sale and they fit ok.

Went to a running store, they video'd me running and then slowed it down examining how my feet plant and what my ankles do. Then they brought out shoes based on that. Huuuuge difference!

What should I be looking for in a good running shoe?

I recently had my running gait analysed (you run on their treadmill, they video it, play it back and can see how you land and how your gait is etc), then they fit you with the correct shoes.

I wish I had had it done years ago, I would never have thought to buy the shoes I eventually ended up with, they they are turning out to be a bit of a Godsend.

If you have somewhere near you that analyses your running gait, give it a go, you will get the correct shoes for your running style then.
