Am I alone?

Ok so I know it may sound silly, or maybe a bit pathetic, but sometimes when I look in this area of Motivation and Support, it makes me feel worse about what I've accomplished. I know I'm working hard, and eventually I'll get my goal, but seeing photos of people that drop 50+ pounds in 6 months ect. bums me out. I just don't get how they are doing this.

They've worked at it! It didn't happen over night - they took it one day at time - ate right and exercised. That's how you get there.0

Don't compare yourself to other people. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday.
No, you're not alone. And I'm betting there are plenty of people exactly in your situation NOT posting their pictures because they don't feel like they've accomplished as much as those people who dropped 50+ in 6 months. You just don't realize it, because...well...they're not posting! :P0 -
I feel the EXACT samee way! ugh its depressing but u gotta make it push ur self harder ... your better than that and u WILL get there !0

I hear ya! I wonder that too. I guess if I stick with this for 6 months...even losing 25 lbs would be a plus. Really, when you think about it...it is our own journey.0

don't get discouraged, and don't compare yourself to other people..... that's pointless. everyone is different. these things just take time.0

You are not alone. BUT this is your journey. Yours alone. You don't weigh yourself and fifteen people and then divide by fifteen! It's just you. Good news is while it is your weight to lose, you don't have to do it alone. If you are at a gym or working out with others you will hear stories of success and of set back. Focus on your efforts and think about how you are getting fit and healthy one day at a time. Don't compare - just share! Wishing you great long term success!0

Well clearly, I'm just saying those that are losing huge amounts in short periods throw me for a loop. It's taken me 10 months to lose 35lbs. Losing 50+ pounds in 6 months does seem like overnight in comparison to what I've done in 10.0 -
The only reason you'd feel bummed out about other people's accomplishments is because you must feel that level of success is outside of your ability. Which is nonsense.
I can see how it could be disheartening to see someone ALREADY BE at the success we're STRUGGLING TO GET, but don't let it demotivate you! Let it fuel you!0 -
So .. What have you noticed besides the scales? More energy? Better fitting clothes? I saw a picture of a girl at 140 before and after. Same weight But .. After picture was more toned, more muscle definition, more energy. The scale is not the only measure of success. Keep at it!0

You aren't alone. I've been at it for about 3 months, and I don't think I've ever lost weight so FRICKIN slowly in my life. I've been feeling discouraged and unmotivated. I look in the mirror and it doesn't look like I've made any progress at all. I get on the scale and it doesn't move or I gain weight.
BUT I'll take my measurements and the number is getting smaller. I tried on clothes that haven't fit in years (I literally bought a skirt a few years ago that didn't fit) and they all fit now! My stretchy pants that I had to wear nearly everyday because my jeans were too tight are now falling off.
So yeah, it's discouraging when the scale doesn't move and it sucks that when you look in the mirror you don't necessarily see progress, but I promise you that as long as you keep going in the right direction, progress is being made. Your mind is just messing with you. (HUG) You got this.0 -
Have you considered that losing weight SLOWLY may actually be BETTER for you? It's not just about losing weight - you want to keep it off, keep a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life, and all these things. Plus you learn how to be patient and persistent. So if you think of a big picture, doing it slowly and gradually improves your chances of keeping it off, because you get used to a healthier lifestyle at your own pace. If you go to extremes with your body, it may rebound, and it may be hard to keep things under control once you are done. In any case this is not a competition - you should just do what's best for you, and not worry about others!0
